...Of course, now we need the UK or US counterpart... any takers?

I was looking at the AMT USS Akron/Macon 1/520 kit on the interweb the other day.  At 18" long it's about the right size for what I have in mind.

Looking forward to that!

USS Eddie Rickenbacker?

HMS Billy Bishop?

Captain Fat Hamster's sky pirate airship.

Being very JMNish, it would be 'HMAS Billy Bishop' as the powers that be of the time entitled British airships as 'His Majesty's Air Ship'.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Oops, you are quite correct. (Where's the Blush Emotiface?)

Actually, shouldn't it be HMCAS? Or was the 'C' only added post-WW1?

Not sure, I was going by the official title of the R-100, which first flew in December 1929.

I don't think I've come across the 'HMCAS' title in relation to UK airships, although 'CAS' does occur with some US vessels, but I don't know what it means there either.  :banghead:

Sorry again - I was thinking that since Billy was Canadian, it might have had such in the title... 'His Majesty's Canadian Air Ship Billy Bishop'
...or 'William Bishop', being as they were a bit more formal and correct in those days?

No-No, sorry for the massive Thread Drift/Hijack!  <_<

Well, we are coming closer to completion....

The crew is on board now, and the rigging of the antennas has been started:

Can I ask whee you got the aircraft from please, this creation has added fuel to an idea knocking around my head for years, but never put into fruition as I was strict on what I was going to build.
Cheers,

The aircraft (Me109 & Ju87) are from Revells Graf Zeppelin kit (1/720 scale). Those were left in the spare part box after I had build a modernized Graf Zeppelin.

Thanks for the reply much appreciated, if I can get hold of one of those kits, I could use some of the bits from it to build my "project", as long as it won't cost any of my organs to buy one  :o

The hangar doors can of course be closed.... as you can see flight operations are about to start, therefore they are open...  ;D

While the "Manfred von Richthofen" is currently getting the lat bits and pieces, here are some pics of another ship that was waiting to be photographed for a while now:

The USS Hornet, in its Doolitte-Raid configuration. This is a 1/700 scale Tamiya kit, with a PE crew and some additional fighter planes down in the hangar.

So here we go:

So this is RW?

It's great work.  Does it come with the B25s?
