what scale are you after?

Unicraft do a conversion in both 1/72nd and 1/48th.

The Unicraft props are not very good Martin, I know I've got one. What I did was to get some Aeroclub Short Sherpa props for my conversion, they're a bit bigger in diameter but that allows you to re-profile the blade tips, the spinner is about right on though. Most importantly, they turn in the correct direction.

I would have thought those were four bladed props. Just a thought about how to build such a bird, with rockets under the wings!

Is the story true that one of the test pilots for the Trent Meteor bent all the propeller tips when he pulled the Meteor pilot trick of retracting the undercarriage before he was fully airborne?

The props were five blade ones and looked very much like the Griffon Spitfire blades only quite a bit smaller in diameter (Spit had 11 foot diameter props and the Trent Meteor had 7 foot ones). But before you go 'ooo! that's what I'll use', the Trent props turned in the opposite direction. You might be able to get away with using the blades that turn in the correct direction from the Seafire contra-prop but they would need whittling down quite a bit. The Sherpa props are about 8 feet in diameter and as I said the spinner is about a dead ringer for the Trent spinner. Trick is though, is getting hold of some. I got mine when Peter Wright was still alive and looked after all the ordering for Aeroclub, he would usually accommodate some of my 'custom' orders, but John Adams doesn't have the time for it these days it seems.
