I`m about to embark on a mission to create a Chimera that some of you may know from another forum.  ;)

Here`s the profile.....

...... and here are the kits in question.

Should be fun......

This is going to be interesting. I feel sorry for the plastic involved  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

This will be awesome

Talk about a "Frankenplane"!

I'll be practicing my "duck and cover" drills from my 50's elementary school days!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

So the first cuts have now taken place and my initial thoughts are that while I would love to make this as true to form shown, there are some areas that may well need to be modified due to the actual physical aspects of both kits.

As you can see I`m thinking about replacing the P-51`s intake for the F-16`s. This is simply because it may be easier to intergrate the two sections. I have also cut that V shape on the top of the F-16 kit to remove the slight incline you get at that section. I have also taken the rear engine nacelle off the Chinook and preping that for construction. That so far, has been the easy bit.

Of course, I`m not really sure what to do with the bits I don`t need now, but I`m thinking along the lines of James Bond for some reason.......

A rare occasion this - the PM isn't the worst kit in the build! That Revell Mustang is a real dog, I recall.  Airfix gets grief for some of their 'golden oldies', but why not Revell???

Anyway, what a mix, eh?

A sort of modernized "Little Nellie" then? Nice
Mind you I'd love to see the Chimera when it's finished as well ;)

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Spent a bit more time tonight with the cutters and scalpel trimming some of the offending areas in detail.

Forgive the makeshift stand and masking tape holding it all together, but this shows you the approx layout of the design and as you can see I kept the F-16`s intake instead of the rather small one from the P-51. (That was a bit of jiggery pokery I dont want to repeat I can tell you).  :banghead:

Something bad happened on final approach during the annual airshow.  :o Never slot the slow speed A/C ahead of the high speed on final approach. Must have been foggy that day.
Seriously, this is really cool. I have chopper parts left over and this is an interesting idea. Comfy chair and popcorn time!
Are you keeping the prop and jet power or going with one or the other?

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

A few pictures of the progress over the last 24 hours.

First on the agenda was to file down part of the intake fitting to get the right angle and a nice solid foundation to join the fuselages together.

The front end...., well...., whats left of the P-51 was completed.

Then I added some sprue to add a bit of strengh, which now seems quite apt considering the forums name I got the profile from.

And last but not least, the joining of two kits. It seems to have gone well so far...., but boy are there some bigs holes to fill.......  :banghead:
