From whence I came, so shall I proceed.

These are photos of stuff I built between 1983-1985.  I'm itching to get back in to it, after seeing some of the original things on this and a few other sites.  Proceed?

Hey, it's a Soviet Crawler!  Fully lighted N-Scale, piano hinge door in front.  A lot of panel line scribing!

This was some sort of Cold-War era super-track.  All the guns swiveled, elevated, the 2 main guns could recoil on rails, and a lot of covers and hatches opened.  Never finished, but great experience.

In my mind, this was Bolo-scaled.

Obvious Space:1999 influence.

There were many more, but no photos of them.  I'll make the pictures smaller in the future, sorry.

Thanks for looking!

Some great looking stuff there.  Show us more and by all means, make some new ones.

Wow, some really good-looking builds there! The photos look like they could be straight out of Hyper Weapon or similar! VERY much looking forward to seeing more.

Fantastic work! IMO, we can always use more sci fi and WhIf armor around here.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.  These were all done when I was a teenager, and had more daring than skill.  I've got so much plastic to start with and so many ideas, but I'm going to have to break through the mechanism of caution that I have attained over time and just cut loose.  I'll begin a few projects soon, after I buy a few more tools I need.

As for the 3rd from the bottom, I'm assuming the grey furturistic one with the offset main gun and sloping glacis.  If I recall, the only thing that came off of a kit (1/35 armor of some type) was the tread assemblies, and the main and secondary guns, and turret rings.  The body, turret, and plating are all sheet styene (I kept Evergreen in business back then!) and a few bits and pieces for detail.  As with most of my projects, they went so far and I'd start another.  So this one, if it still exists somewhere, could benefit from some finishing.  Nothing a little Depot Maintenance wouldn't take care of.  ;)

I am really impressed with the projects I see on this board and others, and of course say to myself, "Self, why bother?".  But then I remember that I'm not doing it for anyone but me, and get all excited again drawing sketches and whatnot.  So give me a few weeks and I might have something started.  I look forward to joining the community here properly.

I think a lot of us are like that when we return to the hobby. We were a lot more adventurous when young, in virtually everything we did  ;D I know I for one am a lot more conservative with my wiffing then I was back then.

Again I think a lot of us go through the "I'm not worthy" phase as well. Then you realise that in reality you are doing it for your self and as long as you enjoy it "what the heck". Then you discover the support you get from this little community and you feel a lot more comfortable. If lucky to attend shows where the SIG's (UK & US) have an attendence then you really do feel "the warmth flowing" as they say - it's either that, the beer, whiskey, wine etc  ;D

Some damned fine armour there, That Man! We need a fellow of your calibre to even the odds against these flying machine chaps!

Lots of clever, well-built work there. I'd be proud to have them in my stash!

The Jagdpanther mod is brilliant - it's so obvious, but a short-barrelled Jagdstug never occurred to me.
Sorry, but I'll have to steal that idea.  ;-)

Yay me, it's been a completely unproductive weekend in the real world.  On the other hand, I did unearth a lot of stuff (still missing an important box though) and found these:

I found these three at the bottom of a Wayback Machine (old box).  Missing some bits, but nice to see again.  The Ogre/Bolo is N scale and missing it's main guns (came out like horns above it's "eyes").

And some more old photos.  A pretty dystopian view of the future.  Too much Heavy Metal Magazine.

Another angle of the Crawler.  I think this was my first true scratch build.

This one says a lot, actually.  Like "You don't get out much", or "well if I DID have a girlfriend..." lol  There's actually a story behind this picture.  I could tell you, but then I'd have to...you know.

And this I just shot this evening.  It is an unfinished project from way back, that is going to be completed.  Ogre influence aside, I am more inclined to go with it as an early GOLEM, the human piloted brother to the Bolo.  Planning on 1/43 scale.  I think 1/72 would look out of whack in this case.  I have some new ideas for it, and can't wait to get started.

Thanks for looking, more to follow.

Steal away, and thanks for the nod!  It's always been one of the coolest looking tanks (the real Jagd) in my opinion.
