What should we do with the 2011 Whiffies

Ok all, here it is, the middle of July and I still haven't posted up the nomination threads for the 2011 Whiffies.

As some of you may remember, this has been a bad year for the Peterson clan (won't repeat the gory details here) but we are getting through.

Also, the nomination thread for 2011 only gathered enough entries for me to run 13 categories instead of the usual 19 and I have to combine several of them to get that.

So, options are to cancel 2011 and do a combined 2011/2012 Whiffies next year (promise it would be in the beginning of the year)?

Just go ahead and run 2011 with the categories I can make (would try to do this before August)?

Let the Whiffies fade to the sunset as a pleasent memory with the possibility of someone else stepping up and taking over or me trying again later? If this happens would still like to keep the Sway threads running as think it gives a great location to see some of the best for that year without searching the whole site.

My decision will be based on the poll and I will also be looking to see how many actually take this poll and factor that in.

Phil, personally I'd like to see them go forward but I really do apreciate the necessary effort.

I'd say take a break this year and then combine 11/12

I would hate to see the whiffies finish. I think they are a great idea and for me they are partly a contributing factor when I`m thinking and making my models. I obviously do it for fun, but it gives you a nice glowing feeling when someone else like your build so much that they nominate you.

I think the best bet is to combine 2011 and 2012`s together now. Another 6 months will pass quickly and hopefully will give you a chance to get some of your mojo back as well mate.

And going forward, would it be a good idea to run the whiffies once every two years to make sure we get a good spread?

I have to confess that the Whiffies don't interest me at all and as such, I haven't voted, but...

Those that are most vociferous about it continuing, perhaps one of you could volunteer to take the load off Phil?  If you're not prepared to do the job yourself, it's unfair of you to expect someone else to do it.

Thats a good point and I`ll think you`ll find that a fair few of us have openly and privately offered Phil a hand to help out.

I think that once Phil makes a final decision on what he wants to do, then that would be a good time for admin/mods to ask for members who would wish to take it on and run it.

Phil, I put in "skip & combine" but, in all honesty, mate, if you don't have the drive to do them, either pass on the baton or let them go.
As much as I enjoy them I certainly don't want you stressing about them or feeling you've let anyone down in any way, shape or form.

<changed my vote from "run anyway" to "skip & combine".  If that's successful, maybe it could be the way to go fro future Whiffies? Having them every two years to get enough entries for each class?

I just voted for run it now. I'd like to add a suggestion to cut down the number of categories, as cruelly and drastically as you can, to simplify running it.

since time is an issue with organising the whiffies, and most categories dont have enough entries, i think the idea of making the Whiffies a Bi-Annual event is a good idea

I have actually been doing some building and my mood is improving.

Got a feeling there may be a Christmas bonus this year whiffie wise and my foliow up with the 2013 ones back on schedule. 

Will see how things progress.
