Which colour scheme should I do it in??

Euro 1 scheme US Army in Finland with Finnish flag on fins
US Army in early overall green and hi-viz markings ( circa 1966)
US Army in commemorative scheme as for pre WW2 (yellow wings)
USAF as for USAF/E
USAF/Army winter cammo

Geoff

I picked up an Italeri 1/48th A-10 "Jaws" boxing and have a small dilemma as to the colour scheme. I was thinking of doing a US Army plane, but might do a USAF one. Options as above, and any other suggestions will be considered.

I like the idea of the yellow winged bird but how about a Yugoslavian A-10.  ;D

Hmm thats an idea. They were scheduled to get Su-25s but the place fell apart.

Radish

I have a 1/72nd 2-seater on the "go"....to be Czech with Soviet stores.
1/72nd A-10A...."retro" USAAF scheme using P-47D markings...Olive Drab/Neutral Grey, etc..
1/72nd A-10A.....USAF SEA scheme with Vietnam era codes.

These are currently "in-build" and are part of the plan for completion while Mid's on holiday.

US Army has real world legs, the USAF has never been over keen on CAS and they were planning to hand them over in the early nineties.  Then Saddam came along and the plans were shelved.

So follow the real world timeline and your probably looking at BOG (OV-1's wore it), or possibly sand (as worn by rotary wing assets) for Gee-Dubbya 1.  Shift it about a bit and it brings your other schemes into play.

Alternatively, how about a Cold War turns very warm conventional/limited nuke scenario?  USAF or Army in winter camo but captured and in red stars???

Rad/Panther, love the idea of the SEA version!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hmmm I do like Panther's Asia Minor scheme on a US Army plane. That would also be the right time period for the Kuwait war I think?

Ahh I seem to have removed the votes DOH!  OK so there were- 2 for retro, 2 for Finnish/Euro 1, 1 for Winter cammo. To be added to any others. Gawd me and computers!!!!!!!!! :banghead:

You've 11 votes in total so maybe you havn't lost them ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Radish

Once you've voted all you get is totals.....

After I've done my initial 3 A-10s, I'll return to the theme with others too....AFTER I've cleared the other "stuff".

Ideas are:

WW2 Luftwaffe splinter
RAF Coastal patrol
RN
Canadian greys
RAF Gulf War
Belgian AF....etc., etc......

Geoff,

I voted USAF/Army in winter camo but I'd like to tweak that response a little.....

OK had 20 votes - thanks to all of you that took the time to vote and post. I am going with the Euro 1 scheme on the 1/48th scale bird. But I picked up 3 1/144th A-10s today so the others will get done, and the commemorative scheme may well be USAAF in OD over NG ( Doh, Radish is doing that one so maybe not)!.

Cheers GeoffP
