Captain Canada

Being done as a RCN escort ship to defend against U-boats.

The ships boats. I'll be adding some details to them to modernize them a wee bit and make them more capable in the North Atlantic. Sadly the boy lost one of the tops when he was working on a bike model....

Drilled out the barrels and tried to trim these guys down to more acurately represent a yankee 5 incher.

General layout so far.

Interesting modelling desk there Capt. Some nice detail work going on with Pine Island.

Thanks Chris. I have to wait to get home before I can post any updates ( working in Alberta for the week ) but I have some 350th scale Sea Hawks to go on as well. I'm using those wells at the stern ( whatever they were for......) to house semi-recessed catapaults.

Be careful lining up the decks, and square up the hangar visually. This was one of the few models I gave up on, with a trapezoidal hangar and poorly lined up decks.
I did keep the flying boat.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Captain Canada

Hey Joe,
I found cutting off all the locating pins really helped in lining up the decks. Mind you, they have only been dry fit but they seem to line up really well. The hangar wasn't a problem either. Maybe you just had a bum kit ? This one is the latest re-issue. If you still have the cloth type top for the one boat, can I have it ?

Still working on this one as time allows. Figure I might actually finish a model this year !

Made an overhead crane for the hangar, just to add something to the big empty space. I was digging thru my PE stuff and about to get carried away but figured I'd better dumb it down and just try and finish this thing. The U-boats are bad this season.....

Dressed up the ships boats. Lost the top of one so made it out of spare parts and sheet styrene. Added some tops and details to the little row boats, and fashioned some putty to resemble tarps on the big life boats.

The air wing coming along. Again, I almost bought some Corsairs that I was going to add floats to, but thought I should go with what I had and get this done.

Still plugging away at this one ! Bought some Walrus and Avengers that will be mated with the Seahawk floats as well. Figure a floating base kind of thing.

Hey gang,
Still plugging away, and determined to finish ! Added a Seahawk to the hangar, and am busy finding little bits to busy the place up. I find the new kitten very helpful in keeping me at trying to locate and relocate these items....

Also added the blocks to the cranes to make them a little more interesting. I made little blocks and drilled 4 holes in each and added thread thru them.

Not to put a damper on your project but the SC-1 wings folded the opposite direction with the floats inboard.  Not sure if you can/want to fix it but I thought I'd bring it to your attention anyway.

Keep up the good work, she's looking great, especially for an old kit.  You're making me want to grab one now

Thanks for the tip, Cliffy ! But sheesh....now you tell me !    Can`t believe I screwed that one up   :banghead: To tell you the truth, I didn`t even know the bloody things folded ! I just figured this way would work.... I think I`ll just turn the wings around but leave the floats as is.
