In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

B-29 "Flatbed" assigned to the 9th Bomb Group, Tinian, Marianas Islands.  This aircraft was heavily damaged by flak and was converted into a Flat-bed load carrier to carry urgent, outsized loads.  It was particularly usefull in ferrying replacement wings, engines and fuselage sections from the depot in Guam to damaged B-29's that had made emergency landings at Iwo Jima as Iwo Jima had poor port facilities. Other cargo included bridge sections, cranes and vehicles. It also made several trips to Okinawa.    

The kit: Minicraft 1/144 B-29A.  Yes quite tiny.  A very basic kit, with poor detail. Scratch bed from styrene.  Weathered and oil stained.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Nice idea and well done. Think of the challenge to the loadmasters to tie stuff down so it is balanced and doesn't fly off in the slipstream!
