Grafix British Battle Fighter

The Book people at work have brought in a model in 1:72 claiming to be clip together and calling itself a "British Battle Fighter" It's basically a Spitfire the back of the box claims its a development of the Spitfire presumably as it's dodging some kind of copyright. Has anyone encountered this kit before?

There's a Mig-29 (though the box shows an MFI for some reason) and an F-16 as well. Someone's posted some info and pics on the F-16 here somewhere, though i can't find it atm...

I'd be interested in the Spitfire, natch. May be a cheap source of spares. That's assuming it's actually any good.

I picked up the "British Battle Fighter" Spitfire with the nice pictures of the Mark IX on the front & the Mark V on the side making me curious as to what was within. Sadly the pics have little resemblence to he plastic inside. Roughly 1/48th scale, kinda a clip wing Mark IX cross between a high back & low back with deep panel lines & the roundels moulded into the wings.

4 brightly paints that are nowhere near the correct colours & decals that look closer to the Italian airforce than the RAF.

Suppose that I should have been warned by the words "Inspired by the Spitfire" on the back.

Only £2.99 & worth the curiosity, but one for the kiddies only. Good thing I know a lad that I can pass it on to.

The Spitfire wings may be ideal scratch fodder for various Supermarine projects.

I bought one of the "MIG29" kits to mess about with. They are cheap and simple, and lacking in detail. I'm enjoying playing about with a model that is about 75% whiff even before I start interfering with it.

My nephew got one of these as an Advent gift this past Sunday. He put it together after dinner tonight. It knocked together easily, save for one minor detail. The wings go on backwards. It appears to be one of the later marks, as it has a four-blade prop and clipped wingtips, but the wings curve backwards. We attempted to reverse them so it would look right, but the kit is engineered that way, so it became an instant whiff. I'll post a pic as soon as I get a chance.

Also, the box claims the kit is 1/100, but it's definitely closer to 1/72.

I saw it in B&M t'other week and thankfully was skint or I may have bought it for a laugh. I've seen photos of it and I don't think it can be as bad in teh flesh as it were although I *know* I'm wrong...

Than again, Scooterman will attest to the sheer horribleness of that Spitfire UTI I bought at Telford...
