The MK V was used a long range escort for the B-29Bs and B-32As over Japan. It is an upgraded MK IV with four 20mm cannons, one 175 Gal belly tank and two 175 Gal tip tanks.

Build notes:

- Kit is the older 1/72nd Tamiya re-packaged Italeri F4U-4B
- Tip tanks from the Revell P-47M. I removed the tapered ends.
- Propeller from the Academy P-47D. I broke the kit propeller right at the hub. Same scale diameter, blades a bit thicker in chord.
- Seat belts from masking tape
- Decals from Aeromaster SP72-10 RNZAF Corsair IV
- Paint is Tamiya Gloss Aluminium spray bomb and Xtracrylix RAF Trainer Yellow brushed on.
- Sharpie fine tip pen for the details

I have only built one other Corsair, the Hasegawa F4U-1 kit. This one was not as easy build as compared the Hasegawa. Wing interface to fuselage was very poor. Also poor engine detailing.

Colorful. Is there a story behind it?

Thanks for the compliments/.

No back story for this build. I seem to have a case of both writer's and builder's block these days. I'm getting over the builder's block but the writing is still an issue.

Here is an example of one of my back stories.
