Would it need extra ECM pods, apart the vital need to look 'cool'?  ;)

The SLAR bays in the forward fuselage should provide adequate space and power supplies etc.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

You could go for the EF-111 or EA-6B tail fin.

You could go for the EF-111 or EA-6B tail fin.

That would only work if you reconfigured it to a fixed vertical fin with a standard rudder. As it was, I think the TSR.2 had an all moving tail fin; I think putting one of those big fairing on top of an all moving component would create some aerodynamic issues not to mention problems of operating the electronic gear inside the fairing.

There's oodles of room inside the airframe for electronics, especially since it was designed to carry it and the hardware has got much smaller since the aircraft was designed..  Tornado and F111 are much smaller and thus carry the electronic stuff externally in pods.  Apart from a few aerials or small bumps, there's nothing to show externally on TSR2.

Fin - all moving and by all accounts the aircraft needed more fin area and there was apparently talk of adding vetral strakes to do this.

As for changing the u/c.  Where do the wheels go?  That's a *very* tightly packed fuselage and short of a major redesign, I don't think you could change it.  It was a very complex u/c design to get it into the bay.

Bare metal and U.S.Air Force along the sides would look uber cool, just hope the brush skills are up to it.

Halfords are your friends.  Can of grey primer and then Gloss Aluminium.  If you spray the latter from a full can, it'll be really bright.

Make sure you go with the Aluminium though, as the others can be too grainy.  I used to use Nissan Silver but found it too grainy for 72nd.  Switched to Gloss Aluminium and never looked back.

Wooksta, Thanks for the guidance on rattle cans and best colour.

Pr19, i know what you are saying , but later life mods and newer eqpt. would probably get 'bolted-on'
too old for a paper round, too young for me pensions, dammit, back to work then!

Pave Spike x2 on fuselage hardpoints and MER with CBUx6 on two under wing hardpoints, plus MER with Sidewinder/AIM54
Maybe a centreline TER with 3x Iron 500lb bombs or two TER

Finally got started on this. Bit of black in the cockpit surrounds and cockpit tub and an overall grey primer coat. If i can figure out how, i'll post some pics.

The only problem with sticking any kind of sensor on the tail of the TSR is that it has an all moving tailfin.  This presents problems with directional reception.  i.e. if the aircraft is flying in a straight line and it picks up a signal dead astern, alls good.  However if it is turning and it picks up a signal dead astern, that signal is actually not dead astern...it's astern of the current position of the tailfin.  So, without complicated electronics, the signal would be shown in the wrong place on the display.
This is a problem I am working on with mine as I want to fit period RWR, which was normally fitted on the fin top....

You are building a model and not the real thing? :banghead:

Fixed tail fin & conventional rudder or, maybe fixed twin fins with RWR pods on the tips? Your Wild Weasel is a very specialised design. I'm sure such a design mod might be needed to overcome this problem

Ok...but I like my whifs to have believability.  I'm sure you wouldn't hang a Blue Steel under a Gnat?
When I build a Whif I want people to look at it and say "Is that real?"  I have taken my in service B-70 and my Retro Typhoon to several shows and they not once has anyone said, "that looks totally wrong and unbelievable"
Sorry, thats just me.

Don't you mean hang a Gnat under a Blue Steel?  ;D ;D
