Again tho, bringing an air of reality into it, would the Jag have even existed if the TSR2 had gone into service. That aside, I agree, that it would have made an far better trainer than the Hunter.

As a joint Anglo-French ground attack fighter? Probably just stay French, or maybe as a Franco-German attacker.

Even if the RAF had got TSR2, the requirement for a light strike aircraft/advanced trainer to replace the Hunter would still exist. The co-operation with the French? Difficult to judge.

Wouldn't the timing be wrong? The TSR2 would have been in service well before the Jag and they'd need something to do the training with. The Hunter was probably the only game in town at the time.

Of course with the Super Hunter wings and the 'Big Bore' engine it would have done a better job........

Hmmn. There was a TSR2 trainer proposal but these would have been a bit big and expensive for cadets so the Jaguar requirement was still there. I'm not sure when it was actually issued.

I 'd been thinking of a P.1101 Hunter tandem two seater with TSR2 cockpit instrumentation, 1083 wings and RB106 Thames. Gathered some of the bits and then lost interest. IIRC I was going to use an Airfix one as a basis with some resin 1083 wings I'd been given.

Hawk only arose because the Jaguar had been developed further than they'd originally intended and became the Hunter replacement in the light strike role. The RAF still needed a fast advanced trainer with secondary light strike.

not as fast as some, but I've just sorted out space for modelling after moving house.
Had a complete spare room
now have Harry's cupboard under the stairs.

Decals are flaking off, could be age or my ham-fisted handling
Microsol seems to be of some help.

Will post more pics once weapon and sensor pods are firmly attached
