Right, this was started by Devifish and his rather excellent  Hawker Siddeley Typhoon F1  ;D
(so I found an innocent partially completed Revell Eurofighter/typhoon)
It was then Re-started by Gondor and his Hawker Siddeley Typhoon T2,

So..... When I first saw Devilfish's Typhoon F1 I thought that's nice, but not quite what I would do.
This is what I thought I would do....

I wanted to make the Typhoon more Hunterish, so as to look like Sir Sydney went back to a clean sheet of
Paper for a direct Hunter replacement.

Still to come the 'Dog tooth' leading edge's, the filling in of where I removed the remains of the Delta wing,
And I think removal of the EJ Exhausts and replacement... Perhaps with a pen nib fairing and plain tubing for the exhaust, so as to simulate an Avon fitted with reheat. (that should be Avon's) ;D

Comments and ideas etc most welcome

Keith

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

It has that Hawker elegance already

The wing looks right but I'm a bit concerned about the tailplane. Mounted on the fin, it looks so small compared with the wide fuselage. There'd probably be problems with the fuselage blanking the airflow at any significant AoA too.

Would you consider mounting the tailplane low, where the rearmost part of the delta wing was?

Never even thought of that,  but if I mount the Tailplane low on the fuselage won't it be affected by the airflow from the main plane?
I can make the tailplanes bigger and still mount them on the fin, that Tailplane was nicked off a passing Hunter
Just for the picture ;D

Lots of aircraft, past and modern, have the tailplane pretty much in line with the wing. Apparently, it is not necessarily a problem. If you want to put it on the fin, I'd definitely consider making them significantly larger ... for looks and function. They might be a good size mounted on the fuselage sides. The Typhoon rear fuselage is just so wide, compared with the slim Hunter.

Very nice. I am going to do a pen knib exhaust on my 1/48 version, using ideas borrowed from the P.1121 too.

Not sure what engines I will have as I'm playing with dimensions, weights and trhust to see which would be best.

Dimensions!, weights? Thrust?
I'm afraid my thinking didn't go that far,
I just thought if Sir Sidney had ago at replacing the Hunter, Two Avon's with reheat, And keeping roughly the same dimensions would be a good start  of course some sort of Radar and guided missiles (Red Top? Or a derivative thereof)
It would of course suffer from 'short legs' a typical British fighter disease, and have to carry a drop tank or two  ;D

The rest I'm going to make up as I go along

As far as the horizontal stab goes, the A-7 Corsair and the Crusader had it low on the fuselage while the F-4 Phantom carried it well above the wing. It was the F-104 Starfighter that carried it on the top of the fin and suffered pitch up problems. I say place it where you think it looks cool and let others scratch their heads about it.

Excellent ideas both  ;D

A little progress from this morning/last night,

I've filled/removed the recesses for the missiles in the fuselage underside, and have started to sand the EJ exhaust petals smooth, to give it that extended tailpipe look that the Hunter has, I've also added the 'Dog tooth'
Leading edge extensions.
You will note no tailplanes at the moment :o, I've just been checking 'British Secret Projects: Jet Fighters'
And found these; all from Sir Sydney's pen,
Hawker P.1121 low set Tailplane,
Hawker P.1116 tail set low on the fin,
Hawker P.1103 tail set low on the fin.
These last two actually have the Tailplane as per the Hunter...
So I think it will be out with the plastikard for a slightly larger Hunterish Tailplane.

That's looking better and better!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Hmm, kind of a developed P.1121, I like where this is going!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Cool!
I'll be watching this one.
