I have just completed a test build of an upcoming 1/72 Beaufighter conversion set from High Planes!

I decided the best way to share it was on a blog-thing, so here it is:

Many thanks to Christopher from High Planes for the opportunity - I hope you like the results! Not very whiffy in itself, but of course any conversion set has possibilities....

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Yeap interesting, a conversion to improve the Airfix Beaufighter wouldn't go amiss as the kits readily available.

Out of curiosity ... Why did you paint the 604 Squadron NG*F in day fighter camouflage?  The squadron was a night fighter unit and their aircraft were painted "Night" (black) all over.  My father flew in NG*G a Beaufighter MkII the version with Merlin Engines - that is one conversion I must try sometime.

But this is Whiffworld............  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I understand that.  Obviously :o) But the article on the website was about real world aircraft being detailed.

Basically because those were the decals I had... and according to my History of the RAF book some Beaufighters, at least, were delivered in Day Fighter camo and sooted up black later. Maybe not this particular one, but generally I'm not that fussed about the historical accuracy of serial numbers, etc.

It does look good in those colours though.

I've a stalled Merlin Beaufighter II which will end up as a BoB aircraft - do I win £5?

No we've all got one of those (don't we?)

The good news is they are planning some replacement Merlin wings as well. I've already put a turret on for a Mk.V... :)
