Concorde Sumbarine Conversion Idea

Hey Guys, i was on Google, Trying to Research Something when i got an Idea:What If Concorde were Converted into a Submarine? think it might work as a Tour Sub or for Fisheries Research? those were 2 of the Possible Roles in Mind for it. What say You? Thanks for looking. Dan

I don't think so - but no Concorde could be modified so - they are not air / water-tight you know.

Do you mean the actual shape?  You would be better off with canards, and smaller mainplanes for a start.  The engines - you could use the existing nacelles, but show some kind of Hunt for Red October style magnetohydrodynamic drive system (see 'caterpillar drive').

Don't think you would need the 'droop snoot' - how about the pop-up cockpit from the Barnes Wallis Swallow?  Perfect for navigation during docking.  Deeper keel too, so the craft sits higher in the water when surfaced.

Now I have 'imagineered' it for ya - are you gonna build it?  'Cause I'd quite like to see it now!

Noy only that, it's engineered the wrong way round. A Concorde is designed to stop high pressure air getting OUT of the airframe, whereas a submarine is designed to stop even higher pressure water getting IN!

Having said that, without the outer wings and with a clipped fin I could almost imagine the shape as a sub.......
