my first Alpha Jet is done  ;D
an older Alpha Jet in the same color is in too good a shap to throw away, so the old one will be repainted in a Red Devils display team color scheme

here's a pic of the new Alpha Jet, the first of 3

with the first of 3 1/144 scaled Alpha Jets now finished, i have decided to add a 4th one. but this will be a repaint of an older Alpha Jet (witch has been replaced by  a new one). this one will be another Belgian, but a What If version in the colors of the Red Devils aerobatic team (currently flying the sf260).

i still have a lot of decal designing to do for future projects, many in 1/144 scale, but also 1/72 scale.
the planned Belgian Navy and Air Force H135M's need decals (im planning both BAF and BN versions), so those will be designed in the next few days.
most project for the decalsheet will be realworld, including Canadian and Spanish F/A-18A's, Lakenheath F-15E, Belgian Spitfires and Ju52's, Belgian AF Boeing 727-29QC,.....

WHIF projects due to recieve decal designs are a Cuban F/A-18C (or F-16C), USAF EF-16G, USAF F-15S/MTD (possibly with ASAT missile)....

so there's still lots more to do and there's lots more to come in the near future.

very little progress on the bench lately, as i have hardly found the time to do some modelmaking  :-\
i do however have some movement, im almost done with a second 1/144 Alpha Jet, a german version. all that needs to be done is stick on the decals.
a 3rd Alpha Jet, a Patrouille de France jet, still has a long way to go.
i have started on a 4th Alpha Jet, this one will be a What If  ;D, its a repainted old one that im repainting and modifying into a Red Devils demonstration aircraft.

i have been thinking, lately i am in the mood to leave the military equipment on the side for a while and switch to do some Civilian modeling.
as read in my alternate news thread, i am planning a Citybird Embraer 195, but during a brainstorm at work today, an idea for an Airbus A350 in the same green color scheme popped into mind, and it looked perfect  ;D so thats definatly going on my "to do list".

also, im planning to use the spare Airbus A320 in the stash and build it in new VLM colors.

either this:

or this (or a combination of both)

i alos noticed a spare airfix Boeing 727, im thinking of building an upgraded version with winglets, new engine,.....
i have no idea on what operator yet

there has been some movements on the bench in the last few days.
the 2nd Alpha Jet, the Patrouille de France version, is now in its final stages of completion, although some surfaces need another layer of decals.
the 3 one, a German Jabo43 special, has been put on hold due to faulty decals, so this one might be modified into a civil registered agressor aircraft.
a 4th alpha Jet, a WHIF Red Devils version, is also making good progress. this one is an old revell kit i am repainting.
here's a pic:

meanwhile, the bench is being cleared to continue on other project that have been gathering dust, a long-due 1/144 croatian gripen has just been finished, and now im about to restart progress on the RCAF A330-MRTT (CC-165T Manitoba).
also, im about to start on a number of larger boxes to reduce stash.

just got back from a day at the seaside, so since im tired im gonna make this a short blog entry.

more movement on the bench this week. the last 2 remaining alpha Jets, the Belgian Red Devils and the Patrouille de France version, are now finished.
work has now been shifted to the completion of the 1/144 CC-165T (RCAF Airbus A330-MRTT) and the 1/72 SeaKings.
for simplicity and time saving, the Canadian A330-MRTT will have no flying boom, similar to the RAF's Voyager tankers and the RCAF's current A310-MRTT (CC-150T Polaris).

planning on the next project has already begun, but to reduce the stash, im going to be concentrating on the larger boxes, so i might start on either 2 1/144 Airbus A400M's, a Citybird A350-900 or the Belgian A330-MRTT (WHIF for the moment) and A330-300 (realworld).

im also going to be looking into decal designs for the next round of builds, at the moment those are classified.

thre has been little progress on the bench lately. the 1st of 2 seakings is now almost done, it just needs its rotors and the decals on the bottom.
the 1/144 CC-165T has also made progress, with the landdinggear now fitted and the pylons for the HDU pods.

ive also started with some stash sorting. been looking at the huge load of revell miniwings kits (1/144 scale) wonder how & what im ever gonna do with those. i already have some plans for most of them, but many of them will be used as a source for parts and WHIF fodder, especially the Spitfires (with have now been replaced by the superiour Eduard kits). the German aircraft (Fw190 & Me262) will be converted to naval aircraft for the long-planned Kriegsmarine escort carrier.

also, looking at the Wilhelm Bauer U-boat (Type XXI) ive been thinking of converting it into a Kriegsmarine'46 attack u-boat, with a V1 or V2 launch silo. ive aslo got a type XXIII U-boat to act as escort.

for now, there's still more stash sorting to be done, maybe even put some boxes into long-term storage or even put a few more up for sale.

tomorrow, me and the missus are planning to go to the annual Wings & Wheels event in Ursel, witch is not far from here.
im hoping to find some more luft'46 kits again this year  ;D

work on the bench this week has been quite slow, but were getting there.
ive started a small side project earlier this week and its almost finished. its a Revell 1/144 F4U Corsair, built as an Argentine Navy variant.
the missus is out of town tonight and tomorrow, so im gonna look at getting some building time.

the RCAF A330-MRTT is progressing slowly, about to start on painting the landing gear and build the engines.
the seakings (the neverending story) will also recieve some attention, obviously  ;)

meanwhile, ive been looking at further stash reductions, earlier this week, ive sold my 1/24 trabant kit, and 3 more redundant kits are also expected to leave the stash next week.

ive lately been in the mood to build some 1/144 warbirds, in an attempt to slink the huge stash of revell miniwings & zvezda 1/144 kits.
ive also been looking into more exotic post-war markings for those aircraft, hense why i started on that argentine corsair mentioned earlier.
althought many of them  will be realworld build, including an Ecuadorian P-47D at some point, there are also a number of WHIF's planned, including an Australian or Canadian Navy F4U Corsair, a Tempest II conversion of a Hawker Tempest Kit, a Belgian Martlet Mk.I (planned both in 1/144 and 1/72), a Belgian Navy Dauntless,...

i finished my 1/144 corsair 2 weeks ago, was quite a nice build for an old revell kit, although it needed a lot of PSR.
now im finishing up one of the 1/72 Sea Kings and a little work on the A330-MRTT.
also started on a new project, a realworld East-German Mig-15 in 1/72 scale (airfix kit).
there are also 2 1/144 versions in the pipeline, another east-german and a Russian one.

in terms of WHIF's, im still in the research phase, looking at Soviet/Russian aircraft, such as Su-30's (possibly Irianian) and Mig-21's and Mig-29's. there's also a WHIF version of the Mig-25 in the planning, thinking either a GDR or Cuban versions (maybe both?).
i also have a few spare trumpeter 1/144 F-7II's (Chinese Mig-21's), and im thinking of building a Belgian version.
in 1/72, im researching how to turn the Italeri Mig-37 Ferrets into a more F-35-like fighter with increased internal payload.

as for Western aircraft, im revisiting the 1/144 F-104K Starfighter F.3 in RAF markings. also im looking at a strike version of the F-22A, the F-22B Strike Raptor (upgraded F-22 with F-35 features). in 1/72 there are various helicopters in the pipeline, some that have been on the waitinglist for over 2 years.

but first, i need to clear the bench and do some inventory work.

On the Russian front I like the Ferret idea....that will be cool !

On the Western side I'd love to see the RAF 104, and how you go about doing the strike Raptors !

Cheers Nils !
