Blog Entry #201

last entry for this year, so im gonna keep it short.

aside from the 4 1/144 Super Hornets, ive started on 2 more projects,

the first is the Embraer 195 in Citybird livery, this is quite an easy and straight forward kit and goes together very well.
in only a short hour, ive managed to get to the point where the model is about 60% completed.
subassemblies such as the landinggear and engines is gonna take a little longer.

progress pic:

the second project, is the top secret Boeing 747-8, i cannot reveal much about it, only that it will be presented to the public in August.
if all goes well, and you've been good, you get a sneak peak
what i can say is that its gonna be a surprise for my wedding  ;)
today, the cockpit has been started, still need to color the seats. the wings and tail are also assembled, but still need work.

here's a pic of the cockpit.

as soon as the Embraer is done, i will take another 1/72 in between, possibly a Luft'46 model or a modern helicopter type.
ive also been thinking of reviving my "WW2 beyond 1945" storybuild, but im also looking at possibly restarting it with a new storyline and a new set of builds. after reading the first 6 issues of Wunderwaffen, ive refound the inspiration to continue the story.

there wont be much time to build after newyears, as of the 2nd of Januari, im starting my new job at the Navy base

but for now:

Happy Newyear, and best wishes for 2017

Blog Entry #202

first Blog entry of the new year, ive been delayed due to work and lack of free time.

there has been no progress on any of the models on the bench, with the exeption of the Embraer 195.
the second coat of paint has been applied and the engine parts are fully painted and ready to be assembled.
work on the first aplication of decals are expected to start soon.

next in line to start is a 1/72 Soviet Tucano for the Soviet GB, a project that was planned to be built last year but never got started.
armament is to come from a 1/72 ICM Soviet Air-to-ground weapons set.

also, modeling time has been cut since my girlfriend bought a Lego Disney castle, witch will take ages to assemble  :-\

im also looking at a number of new projects for this year. my new job at the Navy base is giving me loads of inspiration.
already on the planning list are Belgian Navy Mig-29A's, Embraer 195-MPA and H135M. looking at the 2 1/144 scale Albatross-class attack boats i  have in the stash, im thinking of building one in Belgian Navy markings, and the other in a Sovietized East-German Volksmarine version.

the missus is going out tomorrow afternoon, so i wil have the rest of the day to spend on the bench  ;D
i will also take the time to look at the stash and plan ahead with a few additional WHIF projects.

more soon.....

In a way Nils that's a good thing. At least the ideas are still coming thick and fast

Blog Entry #203

a little progress has been made on the bench today, being stuck at home with the flu and a fever of 38.1°C (100°F) last night, i needed something to keep me busy.

the Embraer 195 is now completly finished (and thanks Narses for the Whiffie nomination btw). more progress has also been made on the still secret Boeing 747-8. meanwhile, the 4 1/144 F/A-18 Super Hornets are still gathering dust since those are on hold for the time being.

the next project to start is the 1/72 Airfix Tucano in Soviet Air Force markings, for this years Soviet GB.
this will be an armed version, with weapons from an ICM 1/72 soviet Air-to-ground weapons set.

im still looking into starting more 1/72 kits, looking at the large stash of kits that doesnt seem to be slimming.
as soon as the superbugs are done, im looking at starting either a 1/72 Agusta A109, another Luft'46 model (witch is long overdue) or both  ;D
of course im still looking into some more civilian stuff, including another Airbus A350-900, a pair of Airbus A320's, a Boeing 727-200,....

Blog Entry #204

its been almost a month since my last entry, so i guess its time for an update.
not much has progressed, 1 of the 4 Super Hornets has been put on hold, pending the finishing of the other 3.
the secret 747-8 project is also progressing at a steady pace, most assemblies are done and its almost ready for paint.

next in line are the 1/72 Soviet Tucano and a yet unknown Luft'46 project.
i have been researching a number of Luft'46 projects, using current day tactics/mission gear with 40's/50's gear, not ust in terms of aircraft, but also in terms of armour and ships/submarines.

there wont be much time on the bench the next few weeks, especially in the second half of March.
i already missed 2 modelshows, but i will be attending the IPMS Moorsele show the first weekend of April near Kortijk.

thats all for now, more soon....

Interesting stuff here....  747 sounds glorious!!  Tucano sounds interesting, too... not something one would think of when thinking of Soviets!

Blog Entry #205

its been almost another month, but there is steady progress
the secret 747-8 is almost ready for paint, the 4 Super Hornets are currently on hold.
also in progress on the bench are a 1/72 Soviet Tucano, a 1/72 Belgian T-33A (RW) and a 1/144 Anigrand AW101 (in norwegian markings).

im also finding new inspiration for new builds, as soon as the 747 is done, im looking to start on 1 or 2 1/144 Airbus A400M's.
ive also started research on another long-term project, a small 1/144 escort carrier for the Belgian Navy, and German Kriegsmarine.
for the Belgian Navy im thinking of building some 1/144 F4U Corsairs, Wildcats and/or Dauntless (as i have these already in the stash) but i could also go for the supermarine seafire (i have an overstock on spitfire Mk.V and Mk.IX). in 1/72 there's also a Belgian Navy F4U-4 Corsair in the planning stages, aswell as the long-expected 1/72 H135M and 1/144 Belgian Navy maretime patrol aircraft.

aside from these projects, there are still many Luft'46 and Kriegsmarine'46 (and a single panzer'46) model in the design phases, including a planned V1 (or V2) equiped Type XXI u-boat, a flak/AA version of the Panzer IV, kriegsmarine FW226 Flitzer, Ar.555 Amerika bomber (with nuke)...

Blog Entry #206

there has been little progress in the past month since the last blog entry.
the 4 Super Hornets are still a WIP, with the first one nearly done, 2 others are to follow shortly, the 4th one has been put on hold.
also in progress is an anigrand 1/144 AW101 in Norwegian markings aswell as a 1/72 Belgian AF T-33A.

i course there is still whiffery going on, with the 1/72 Soviet Tucano, but the project has encountered some delay due to lack of benchtime, might end up getting cancelled in favor of another project.
also in progress is the secret Boeing 747-8 im working on, main assembly is nearly done, the engines are currently in the paintshop, the wings are expected to follow shortly. as for the fuselage, im waiting for the temperature to get warmer so i can take it to the garage for spraypainting.

looking at other what if projects, there are a number still in line waiting to be started.
in the luft'46 field im planning a nuclear bomber version of the Arado Ar.555, V2 (or V1) capable Type XXIb submarine, Belgian Navy F4U Corsair (in 1/72 and 1/144) & Dauntless (1/144), Belgian Navy & Air Force H135M's,.....

as for Belgian Whiffery, im looking at building a number of Belgian models, including a small Belgian Naval Aviation fleet (with Corsairs, Dauntless, Martin Mariner, Supermarine Walrus,...).
For the Air Force im planning a significant number of models aswell, such as Airbus A330-MRTT, A400M, F-35A, H665 Tiger-ARH, maybe jet Provost or Folland Gnat,.....

im stuck sick at home for the next few days, so im gonna have a look at getting some benchtime
