Blog Entry #334

very little progress since the last entry, and i doubt there will be much more in the next few months.

i have been designing some decals for future 1/144 projects, both RW and WHIF, including a Dutch TBM Avenger (RW) and a P-47D Thunderbolt for San Theodoros (WHIF). i still need to make some serials for an F-111K Merlin GR.1.

as for physical builds, its going to be on the down-low for a while, as i will be moving house in 2 months time.
all my free time on weekends wil now go into packing up the stash, prepping the kits for the move and other works arround the house here prior to move.
we signed the lease/rent contract last weekend and we are now gearing up preparations to move out.

priorities once moved will be to get the livingroom and bedrooms in order, the new hobbyroom will be last.
im still in the planning phase for what is to become "mancave 4.0", ive arleady got some decorative stuff for the walls.
i will not be drilling holes in the walls for shelves, instead im gonna use floorbased shelf units as these offer more flexibility.
not all completed models will be displayed there either, some could end up on the attic for long-term storage.

a lot of exiting (and stressfull times) are coming, just hope i can survive them mentally until we are fully settled there.
we are expected to recieve the key on may 1st and the full move could begin a few days later.

more soon...

There's a reason I haven't moved house in over 22 years.

Well, that & the fact that the we own this place (the bank holds the mortgage, though). ;)

Family Rheged wish you well in you impending house move.

I repeat the advice that I give to everyone moving house.     Make sure that you know exactly where the kettle, mugs, tea/coffee etc are located.  Hot drinks (and chocolate biscuits) are an essential part of keeping the house-moving team happy            And no matter how well you label every box, you will still have several surprises when you unpack!

Blog Entry #335

this is gonna be perhaps the last bench update before the move, so lets get going

ive been packing up the workbench today, putting everything in boxes before i start disassembling the worktables in the next weeks.
the biggest problems i have now is that im running out of space to put the packed boxes, but thats only a temporary problem.
mean while, the new shelf units for the new workspace have arrived this week, replacing the wall-mounted shelves.

of course, i did find a moment to do one last task, the next sheet of DIY decals for future projects.

so this time i have (in 1/144 scale):

Real World:
-Grumman TBM Avenger, Royal Netherlands Navy
-Iranian F-14A Tomcat
-El Salvador FG-1 Corsair
-P-38 Lightning (Iron Eagle III, tribute to the late Louis Gossett Jr.)
-F-4K Phantom FG.1, Royal Navy 892 NAS.

What If:
-San Theodoros P-47D Thunderbolt
-Vosberian F4U-1D Corsair & Messerschmitt Bf110
-Vosberian Mirage 2000, F-14D and RQ-4B
-Royal Air Force F-111K Merlin GR.1

i still have ideas for more, but thats for another time, another workplace.

and also, ive been doing prepwork on something new, aside from my earlier youtube side project (Belgium's Flying Past), once everything in the new house is settled, im planning to starting a new Modelmaking channel as a side project. for this, im gonna use my main youtube account (i havent uploaded anything new for years, im only using it for subscribtions and commenting ever since i stopped filming at airshows).

on that channel, im planning to make build reports, inbox kit reviews, tips & tutorials,.....
im still in an early process of layout and video design, and i have an idea for the channel intro.
one thing im looking at, is one video where im planning to make a timelapse of the building of the new workspace.
should note, this is all just in the idea phase at the moment. but im hoping to go through with this once everything in th enew house is settled.

I hate moving house.  Never going to do it again if I can help it.

Good luck with it mate.

Blog entry #336

first new entry from our new home. so far its been a week since the moving started. my PC isnt hooked up yet, so im using my wife's old laptop for the time being (although its slow, outdated, and the "D" key barely works).

the new workspace still needs to be built, priority is now for the bedrooms and living room. so far, with the exception of lighting, my son's bedroom and the garage are mostly done. the workspace is last-priority at this moment.

but hey, lets get to the modelmaking part already. from all my built projects, with the exception of 3 or 4 broken tailwheels (repairable), pretty much all of them survived the move  (with the exception of older ones that have been scrapped or broken up for parts).

i cant wait to get my workspace up and running again so i can get back at it.
