I DO hope your model collection is in a safe place, that Pickles looks a right one to me!

And to me  ;D Nice age to take on

By the way Nils, humans never adopt cats, they adopt us  ;) Dogs are different, but cats ??

Have you ever tried explaining that to a cat before Nils ? I swear they see it as a challenge  ;D

Blog Entry #244

im at home for the next 3 weeks, as my workplace shuts down for the summer holiday.
more then enough time to get back on the bench, and i started with pacing up mass production.

after finishing the Thunderbolt GA.1 for the RAF100 GB last night, today i started on the next series of build, this time a series of Russian aircraft in 1/144 scale, 3 Su-34's (of witch 2 Su-32FN's in New Flanders Air Force colors) and 2 Su-47M's.
2 1/144 Hawker Tempests are on hold and currently moved to the shelf of shame, they will be finished on a later date.

while building the sukhoi's, im gonna do some research on my next RAF themed builds, one is a production derivative of the Fairey Delta 3 F.155, it will be a kitbash of a 1/144 scale Mig-25 with 1/72 Mig-21 wings and reshaped scratchbuild intakes. would look like a scaled down CF-105 Arrow.

on a lighter note, today we took our little friend, Pickles, to the vet for the first time for checkup and first vaccination.
the vet said that everythings okay, but we heard a rather embarrasing surprise. when we addopted the kitten last week we were told it was a male, but then the vet surprised us and told us that our Pickles was a girl  :-\ ,boy was our faces red!
well, that explains why she wants to sleep on my lap all the time, i must be her favorite.
anyway, SHE is doing fine, just needs to learn to drink more water.

there wil be no benchtime this weekend, me and the missus are off to the seaside for a whole weekend of sun, sea, sand and Seakings (or NH90's)  ;)

more soon.....

;D Don't be embarrassed mate, loads of people find it difficult to tell the sex of very young puppies and kittens, and yes quite often the female kitten/puppy will "favour" the male of the household and the male the female.  At least you chose a gender neutral name  ;D

;D    How cute. Reminds of Star Trek TNG.   Data's cat "Spot" was MALE the entire time until Spot became pregnant.  ;D ;D

Blog Entry #245

its been almost a month since the last update, so here's one

after recently finishing my 5 1/144 Sukhoi's, im now gonna clear and clean the bench, preparing for the next projects.
i dont know what to build yet, but im thinking about revisiting the Shelf of Shame and finish some projects started long ago.
on the shelf are two 1/144 Hawker Tempests V's, three 1/144 F/A-18E/F's, one 1/72 Westland Seaking and one 1/144 Airbus A300.
one thing im starting to get a serious shortage off is shelf space for both finished models and boxed kits.

due to a shortage of storage space, in going to do some stash reorganisations, and im enforcing a kit-buy-stop on myself until the stash has slimmed down. the only kits im gonna buy are those i splanned this year, and the Revell Haunebu II kit is back in my sights after they recently re-released it after the call-back earlier this year.

whats going on the bench next, who knows?

and we have movements on the bench. with the space that came free on the table, i have now (re)started on 4 projects.
2 are revived from the shelf of shame, and 2 new ones (with only one to be finished in the short term).

from the fridge, i have brought back the 1/72 Westland Seaking Mk48 and the 1/144 Airbus A300-MRTT to the bench.
on the latter, the wing assembly has been completed, tanker parts have been added (from a Roden 1/144 VC-10) and the first layers of paint have been added to the inside parts of the engines. the Seaking will be finished up, as was planned years ago (i know, i know, i said that many times before ). another previously started project, a realworld 1/72 F-16AM in Tigermeet markings, has now taken up the spot on the shelf of shame (AKA, "the fridge"), where the seaking used to be.

the other 2 new project are, again as prefered, 1/144 scale kits, however this time they are a bit larger. taken from the stash are 2 1/144 scale Airbus A400M kits, one will be a WHIF version, the other a realworld Belgian version (hense why im not going to finish that one this year, as the first Belgian Atlas is expected to fly in 2019/2020, and i dont know the markings & serials yet).

in terms of health, im doing better, both mentaly and physicly. ive been struggling with my left knee for the past 6 months, after taking a nasty icy fall with my bike last winter, i couldnt rest or lean on it ever since. a few weeks ago, i went to the hospital to get an MRI scan of it, turned out i still had a bruised spot and a swelling on some bone tissue on my kneecaps. should clear up with a week or 2 of Voltaren gel. mentally im doing better too, i have come to a point where i no longer need psychological help and im now strong enough to go without, hopefully this time it goes better, after 2 nervous breakdowns, it has to.

Really good to hear the news re your health Nils

Obviously I hope the knee gets better soon, but the touching all the wood going the important one is looking fine.

i really have to start giving more updates, so here's one for starters

a lot has happened since the last update, the bench is starting to clear up, the 1/144 Airbus A300-MRTT is now finished, pics should be posted soon. meanwhile, the 2 1/144 A400M's have been reduced to 1, with the second (the planned Belgian one) wil be put on hold until the first Belgian Atlas is revealed next year.

also started are 2 more Sea Kings, this time the new AVF Club versions in 1/144 scale. both Seakings will be built as realworld Belgian machines, using the westland parts and decals from a pair of Sweet Seakings i got from a friend a while ago. these wont take that long to put together compared to the 1/72 versions that seem to take forever.

looking at research for future projects, i might take up another Luft46 project, maybe a long-range version of the Arado Ar.555 with an atomic bomb loaded on

its been very exciting the past month, in the beginning of september, my wife and i finally got arround to my christmas gift from last year, a innitiation flight on a helicopter. usually it was suposed to be 30 minutes of flight with me and an instructor on a Robinson R22, but i had the option to change it to 20 minutes in an Robinson R44 Raven I, with the missus in the back. since she never flown before, i chose the latter. it was a wonderfull experience, where i had control of the stick for most part, i must say its not that easy flying a chopper, but its a great experience.

no modelbuilding this weekend, as im going to be visiting my parents. on wednesday we are leaving for 3 days on a trip to Disneyland Paris  ;D

Sounds like things are doing much better for you all around. Your projects sound interesting and it's good to hear you are having good family time. I'd say carry on!

time for another update, and its gonna be a (not so) small one.
at this moment, i have about 17 projects  :o on the bench in various stages of completion, these will be finished first before staring on anymore projects.

projects on the bench atm are:

-1 x 1/72 Seaking Mk.48 (awaiting decals, wheels & rotors)
-2 x 1/144 Seaking Mk.48 (in progress, kitbash of AVF Club & Sweet kits, almost done)
-2 x 1/144 Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 (both realworld, awaiting decals)
-1 x 1/144 Messerschmitt Bf109e (Borduria, awaiting decals)
-1 x 1/144 Junkers Ju-87 Stuka (Borduria, awaiting decals)
-1 x 1/144 Fairey Delta IV (converted Mig-25, intended for RAF GB but didnt finish in time, 50% complete)
-1 x 1/144 Piper Enforcer Mk.II (converted P-51D, main assembly 80% done)
-1 x 1/72 Hummer (Belgian Army, awaiting paint & decals)
-1 x 1/144 Airbus A400M (Fuselage assembled, wing partially completed)
-1 x 1/72 F-16AM Tigermeet 2009 (realworld, awaiting paint)
-3 x 1/144 F/A-18E/F Super Hornets (on hold for the past year, will have to be finished at some point).
-2 x 1/144 Hawker Tempest Mk.V (one RAF and one Soviet, currently on hold)

so as you can see, the bench is overcrowded and there is no more room for any new projects. so before i start on any new builds, this pile has to be finished. already the next number of projects are in line once the bench clears, including a 1/72 Belgian F-35A (yes, we finally officially announced this machine will replace our F-16 fleet) among others.
im also gonna look at clearing out some stash and possibly selling some unwanted and older kits, just to free up space.
