Back in 2010 I was part of a small group who toured the former USAF airbase at Upper Heyford. We started in museum in the former Officers Mess, went down to the Photo Recon and Electronic Warfare bunker, drove along the runway to the secure compound for the Hardened Aircraft Shelters and finished in the Command Bunker. Took about 2 hours to do the whole place.

The HAS compound was interesting to look at the high security for the F-111 nuclear strike fleet, it had a double set of fencing to let guard dogs run free and the guardhouse had firing ports in all sides.

Cor, I used to live at RAF Upper Heyford.  ;D

We were the last RAF family living there when the USAF took over in 1950. It looks a LOT smarter in your pics than when we lived there Nick, even though it's been unused for quite a while now.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
