i get the bad omen thing i was thinking Icarus aswell, but the flying too close to the sun thing kinda put me off lol

i want to give it a name because i believe had it existed it would have had soul and character, id like to think that if this aircraft had achieved what it was designed for it would be now regarded amongst the greats (concorde, the wright flyer), instead of the unknown misfit it is, part of my back story im gona put is that after it had finished testing and it was past its useful life its importance in human history not just aviation history earn't it is place not just in the duxford or hendon but in the science museum in london displayed alongside other pioneers like stephensons rocket, apollo 10 and the E28/39 having earnt its place in history

The M-52 wasnt named the gillette. It never was formaly named. The name Gillette Falcon was given to it by the Miles factory staff.

The E28/29 didnt have a formal name, and neither did the M-52's rival...The X-1.
I always hope for the best.

The Gilette Falcon was a Miles M.3B Falcon Six used as a test bed for e.g. the wing shape and all-moving tailplane.

Probably because BA could never be bothered to name it and most of the RAF ones came from BA. (Yes, I KNOW the RAF had 10 of their own already.....)

In 'Silent, Swift, Superb', THE book about VC10s, there's quite a bit about naming the aircraft but sadly I'm about 120 miles from my copy and can't remember exactly what it said.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

The carrier aircraft "helios" for the M52 now only awaits decals and the finer touch up

AND something to carry

the trapeze to lower the M52 ( still looking for a name) is built

and the red/green signal lights and the communication window that sits just above the M52 canopy is done( they didnt trust the radios in 47!

Rheged

Completely off the wall name suggestion.  Since HELIOS  is the sun,  call the M52  SELENE  ...........the moon. The name is almost onomatapaeic,  suggesting speed.
"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you....."
It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

While we await the completion of the M52

thought you might like another westland iceni

this one is a gunship as used in bosnia, just the sound of one in the area sent serbs running

ICENI MK3 fitted with 20mm gatling, low recoil 105 and long range fuel tanks
