Lockheed P38J long range desert recon aircraft, operating in North Africa. No armament to speak of other than a single .50 in the nose for "harassing fire".

I was figuring more visual recon, going out to spot enemy troop movements and radioing their position back to bomber command :thumbsup:

Makes me think of a two-seat, prone-pilot version with the now "rear" canopy a rear-defense gun position!

Of course, there are a lot of people out there who don't know the P38 was produced through 1979, and a few actually saw service in Operation Desert Storm!

A little late for this P38, but I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! She did get a 20mm M61 Vulcan in the nose last night :thumbsup:
