a bit of digging eventually found it... started in 2005, resurrected in 2007, since then it's been packed up when we moved house 3 years ago and still it ain't any nearer completion... if you read the last comment on that thread I said come back to see it finished in 2009! if only...   Although I like the idea of WWII 8th AF one in OD/Grey...

I actually had the same idea recently.  Very neat.  I hope you finish it someday!

Cheers,

Hehehe, Logan I never thought I'd see the word 'neat' in association with the B-36.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Awesome build, I look forward to the end result!

In case anyone needs proof the B36 was operating in South East Asia, I found this old paper from the LA Times ;D

I LOVE the B-36.  I just watched Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart the other night.

TERRIFIC film! I love it too, but June Allyson's voice is a REAL pain.

Agree.  I can understand how you feel about June Allyson, too.  I have to say, though, I'm a big St. Louis Cardinals fan and I love the B-36 and B-47, so I think that movie was basically made for me.

OK, next B36 WHIF idea.......

Building Monograms 1/72 B36 as a 1/48th WW2 model. Hell the fuselage is the same diameter as the B29, and the wingspan is 4" wider!

What about a smaller concept by Consolidated, using the six pusher engines (maybe Packard Merlins???) and the B24 tail & rear turret? A ball turret would look good........

Do it!!!!  Put real B-29 markings on it and see how many people you can fool  ;D

We need a 1990s version carrying a bazillion iron bombs and a 2000s with a load of guided ordnance.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Hmmm, you know what would look awesome, a Boeing XF8B escort fighter in either Pacific colors or SAC colors as an escort for your early B-36s too!
