All ideas presented are as original as I can possibly make them, many of which are posted elsewhere already.  These are the concepts with intent to build.   Anyone who wishes to duplicate these ideas, expand on them, or put them in kit form is most welcome to do so; I would find that highly complimentary.    



Khemed.

The Tintin story continues outside Herge's work.    Zaharoff is able to equip Khemed with enough bits and parts and pieces of P-47D Razorbacks that they wind up with a few flying examples.   Later, after the Spitfire and Mossie, Khemed obtained ex Pakistani Supermarine Attackers.    Likely the paint schemes would mirror that of the Royal Iranian Air Force.    Perhaps they would also have the Venom FB.4    Zaharoff, being corrupt as he is, equips either Shiek Bab el Ehr or some completely new ''Anti-Khemed'' group with similar aircraft, payable in 12 monthly installments of course.   To be continued.  (Tamiya 1:48 Razorback kit solidly under way, interior nearly finished, Attacker kit in house, unstarted, next on deck.)



Italeri 1:48 Re 2002.    

The kit is a shame to put it mildly if one is interested in scale modelling.   However, stretch the wing by approx 1/2" just outside the undercarriage, remove the engraved detail, and convert it to a fabric wing.   F4F-4 prop, rather fat spinner, properly drilled gun ports, and one has a materials-efficient variant.   Paint in some monochrome color suitable for the era to emphasize wing modifications.     That much work shouldn't be hidden under camouflage no matter how skilled.   Editorial comment:  Italeri, that kit is styrene buffoonery.  



Airfix 1:48 Hurricane.

I like the kit better than any others of the type.    Fixed and betrousered main gear, twin blade prop.    Possibly remove the upper aft fuselage and place a small fairing with roll bar there, reshape vertical tail.    Engrave smoothly, Ultracast prop/exhaust.   Early BofB variant.   (Preliminary tape up started, checking for potential future difficulties.)

Early variant with reshaped fabric covered outer wings.
Late variant serving into the 80's with anti shipping missiles carried externally.  



MiG-21F-13

Straight wing with tip tanks/T-tail Starfighter like prototype enters production.   NMF/USSR
Swept Ye-2 wing chosen over delta wing.  NMF/USSR or Finland.



CF-105  1:48 Hobbycraft

Closed cockpit, anti shipping role.   Canadian, Norwegian, British, German users.    Scratchbuilt weaponry every bit as whiffed as the aircraft itself.     This is a hard one for me to cut, reshape, and/or hang much weaponry off.   It's just so ruggedly powerful looking as is.

Independent Persian warlords patrol the Strait of Hormuz with them.



Alley Cat 1:48 Vampire

Another machine for the skies of Khemed.
Extended wing variant for high altitude photography.   PR19Kit, I'm sorry I cannot gift you one.  




Trumpeter 1:48 Supermarine Attacker

T-tail version, straight wings
Swept tail, straight main wing
Scimitar wing production version but with completely different wing/tail from the H.P. 88



Trumpeter 1:48 Seahawk FGA.6

Round the wing tips, reduce the vertical tail in size slightly and round it a bit too.   Remove tail bullet. Cover gun ports with rounded sprue rather like the faired in Meteor gun ports.  Seahawk prototype.  Mk.100/101 variant...presume the airframe continues in limited service until the modern day, remove the gun bay, replace it with electronic sensing/jamming devices.  Additional electronica carried in dual purpose underwing pods that carry both equipment and fuel much like the Yugoslavs did with their recon F-84E tip tanks.    Somehow, it cannot be a gray bird however.  Known as the Seahawk E.101 or some such thing.  




Trumpeter 1:48 SM-79 Sparviero

Reduce the crazily intense side details of the fuselage.  Opium smuggler out of Afghanistan into the surrounding region but legitimate cargo return into that torn nation.  

Revell 1:48 Ju-52 series.

See immediately above, both aircraft owned by same group of thugs.



Hobbycraft/ESCI MiG23  1:48

Add MLG resin wells (yet to arrive) for Trumpeter kit, metal landing gear by SAC, and the resin wheels inevitably on the way, as well as a new tail pipe.   Hide the canopy at least partially with a painted paper towel 'canvas cover', stretch the nose in front of windscreen approx 1/4 to 1/2 inch.  Rescribe (the plastic should take this very well), NMF.   MiG-23 prototype.



Hobby Boss MiG-17 Fresco C  1:48

T tail
More pronounced scimitar wing.
Appropriate resin treats for the cockpit, wheels, and guns.



Monogram F-4C Phantom 1:48

Stretch rear fuselage slightly moving tail assembly aft.  Reshape vertical tail to both taller and reduced in chord.   Flatten horizontal tail planes.   Flatten main wing, increase leading edge sweep a bit.   Rescribe.   Resin F4J wheels such as Brassin.   Cliche markings of VF-84.   Is a hybrid of the F3G-H and the F4J.

Early variant with fabric covered main wing.
Reverse engineered Russian production version developed further and sold to African nations.   Square tipped flying surfaces, exhausts similar to early LaGG aircraft (??)



Supermarine Scimitar  (yet to be released and I can't whiff a Dynavector kit.  )

Fujimi Bf-110  1:48

Open cockpit, uncowled radial engines or twin bladed faired in RR Kestrel engine, fixed gear.   Reduced vertical tail size, significantly rounded.



Cyber Hobby/DML/Dragon   Ju-88C  1:48

Twin tail variant.   Iraqi.   Or USAF SEA ground attack


Tamiya 1:48 Me-262

Butterfly tail.   Overall pale Sand Yellow, dark burnt umber tail assembly.  Post war service.  With whom?  Who knows.  



Tamiya Beaufighter 1:48

USAF SEA.  Suitable underwing munitions robbed from Tamiya Skyraider or Monogram F5E.  Tip tanks, single seat version.

USAF Phoenix missile capability

Trumpeter's Seafang arrived today.


It is moulded wrong.  


Some mild reworking of the nose to bulk it up will do wonders, however.    Viewed from the top, the taper of the nose follows Airfix short nose Griffon Spitfires beautifully.   The rocker covers are simply horribly anaemic.  


The spinner from the Airfix short nose Griffon kits fits on well enough.  

Resin rocker covers, exhausts, spinner and blades such as the 5 bladed edition from Barracudacast Resin, possibly new wheels/tyres will do wonders.   Leave the overly thick underwing radiators alone and call it a tropical version.  

Quickboost, are ya' listnin'??  


All in all, however, it is going to be a great kit for a Whiffery.

I used to think my 1/72 scale Flatirons were 1/48 at one stage, the Javelin is one HUGE aeroplane for a 'fighter', and the wings are so thick you could have a party inside one!

The Javelin is one of the few releases of late that awoke my enthusiasm and hope to have more than one in possession after they are available on this side of the Atlantic.   I know virtually nothing about the machine.

The Trumpeter Supermarine Attacker is very well thought out and is obviously designed by a model builder.   I'm not going to worry one whit as to it's accuracy like I am with the SeaFang and Vampire because it's so unique.     It should be a fairly quick build once the basic interior detail work is done.   For budgetary reasons, this may see my first attempt at scratchbuilding harnesses on a seat.   I'm unaware of any resin upgrades for the kit so we will see just what happens to the pilot's command chaisse lounge.   Perhaps it will be ready to display in Seattle come April.      Hopefully a Sea Hawk FGA variant can join it in RAF service out of Kai Tak.  That kit is awaiting a few resin goodies.   I see no reason to not doll up a what if kit.

Another Asiarama idea cooking around is to get a Sea Vixen into the USAF in Vietnam service.   I've thought of putting Bullpups on it or even early AGM-65s but still need to work out the back story.

Yes, thanks.   Someone recently elsewhere posted some T.O. images for that too.     For some reason, I'm no fan of Bullpups which is pretty silly because I know virtually nothing about them.   Maybe they would be good if there was more of a tank or sampan threat.    There are some pretty decent ones in the old Monogram F-100 and HobbyBoss FJ-4B Fury kits.   I'm tending toward the Mavericks in Monogram's Warthog however at this time.   

Essentially I want a contrasting color from the SEA greens/tan/black.     Making it a Wild Weasel is also being considered but the missile might be too big visually.   We will see.

From what I've read they were a bit useless (well, not useless, but far from ideal due to the manual guidance system).

Red Tops/Firestreaks are quite big missiles, so a pair of Shrikes wouldn't look too big. Not sure about a Standard, but Shrikes, yes. Or you could cook up an ARM variant of the Falcon?
