I thought this was whiff-world, Kit?  Anything is possible!  Just some glue, a razor saw, some spare parts and a lot of PSR and hey, presto!  Liftfans!  ;D ;D ;D

Yes I agree, but where the devil would we put them?

There were IIRC several projects in the 1960s/70s which featured fold out liftfans for small airliners.  So, under the floor in the fuselage?

Why do you need lift fans?

The engine power probably won't be strong enough to lift the aircraft vertically anyway, so add a third jet in the tail with 2d vectoring nozzle. The two wing mounted engines can also have 2d vectoring nozzles, or can be hinged on their mountings and rotate around the leading edge to provide vertical thrust.

whell as soon as a 1/144 f-35 in on the market for the nose and some other parts i have a 737 in the stash so i have a go

Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

I thought the Royal Navy was going to go down the V-22 Osprey route for a AEW tilt rotor aircraft, as to the F-35 did the X-32 have the same handling problems?
The Sea Harrier has longer legs than the F-35, have the Indians still got theirs?

A model of that 737 complete with vectored thrusts exhausts would be pretty awesome. Adding lift fans to it may be a tad more difficult however.....  ;)

Maybe take a 737 and add 727 fin with VT nozzles...? Should look interesting?

Trouble is, they are talking about running their Harrier fleet on until at least 2016 and possible 2019.....or so I have gleaned froman Indian website.

The Chinese are good at copying aircraft, have they tried V/STOL?

I'm sure they are trying it. If and when we'll see it is another matter...

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Are there any examples of the Yak-141 around?

Hobbes

You mean scale models? Anigrand and ART Model do them in 1/72.
