Getting back to the 1/72 Shackleton MR MK3, resin Griffon engines and metal propellors would be ideal. The Revell/Frog kits are getting rarer to find. Aeroclub have stopped making them.
Tyne engines also appear in the Airfix F27 Friendship and Fairey Rotordyne kits. I've got the Mach 1 Atlantic kit in my stash along with the spare parts from the Revell kit.
A set of metal inflight refueling probes would also go down a treat.
I've got the Airfix Valiant improvement kit, it contains the camera ports (no glazing!!) and tanker conversion hose & drum. The camera port fits in the weapons bay section on a Vulcan, but you need to trim it a bit to get a good fit. I thought of using one on the Revell 1/72 B-1B or on a Tu-22M3. If you were thinking of using it on the Nimrod, then you might have to cut it in halve down the centreline or place it in hot water to reshape the plastic for a better fit.
A tonka metal undercarriage set might be worth considering. I can never get mine to fit.

Aeroclub has rereleased the Shackleton conversion - he only deals direct now.  The Frog/Revell/Novo/Eastern Express kit isn't that hard to find either, although prices are wildly erratic.  Besides which, Heritage are doing a complete set of Shackleton conversions, the first being an AEW2.

The Valiant camera ports are on the clear sprue in the Valiant kit!

The F-27 Friendship has Dart engines, not Tynes, and the Rotodyne has Napier Elands.

While both the Dart and the Eland are of similar shape to the Tyne's cowlings they're smaller, check some against the real Tynes from your Atlantiques.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Aeroclub did/does Tonka u/c in 1/72 and 1/48 scale, got a set of each in the stash.

Hi wooksta,
I haven't bought the Valiant kit yet, I'll check and see when Heritage are releasing their Shackletons.
Thanks PR19_Kit for your information, I've replaced the Airfix Napier Elands on my Rotordyne with a pair of  Allison T56s.

1/72 RR Tyne Nacelles               (To be developed)
1/72 Hawk 200                             (To be developed)

Tempted by the Tynes if they can fit on an He219.  Definitely tempted by the Hawk 200 -once converted a Matchbox Hawk T1 to a 200 before their 200 kit came out.  Long since consigned to the bin/scrap box though.

Delta Lightning was to have had tailplanes anyway.   The Lightning Delta was effectively the gap between flaps and fuselage filled.

Is that through his Britmodeller link, Lee?

You could try that way, although AFAIK, his telephone number and address haven't changed.

I can confirm that, I've got a pair of Tyne's from a Heller Transall that I've been meaning to stick on a Rotodyne.  They're quite a bit bigger than the Elands on the Rotodyne, but should fit the fairings easily.  The Darts on the Friendship are a similar size to the Elands but the fairings are much smaller.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

one iv been planning to make for many years is a Tyne engined Hercules, im thinking the Revell Transall would be an ideal starting point for copying in silicone and resin

Hawk 200, i recall a conversion article in an old Aircraft Modelworld, my own example being scrapped when the Matchbox kit appeared of the mockup, a useful basis for a potential conversion and stil avaliable from the far east (scalecraft? did a corrected back end i think)

Valiant bits, last i chatted with cambell from Odds and ordenance, he has the masters ready for underwing bomb panniers and 'Red Neck' rear gun (i saw both at the Glasgow modelshow in October and very nice!) he also mentined the large SLAR. for the Victor as a future release, what would be useful and nice is the RATO. packs tho for use on the Valiant and Victor :)

hmm a range of sharply detailed engines and props would sell well im sure (maybe a word with John at Aeroclub might yield a source for the propa as he used to cast sent masters if of suitable quality helping fellow modellers and expanding the range, another possibility is any local small scale wargaming figures company, iv always found them approachable to provide castings for a small fee!) top off my head as well as the Tyne, i can think Dart, Griffon, RB.211, i know each aircraft has its own individual interface fairings and even cowlings but would provide a useful starting point :)

best wishes for the new year, joe

If you're doing a Lightning T.5 conversion, why not also produce the extended belly pack neccessary to make Warton's PL.1 advanced interceptor study. Basically, this pack extended over the original missile pallet and had yet more fuel in it, the pallet being moved much further back (nearer the CofG) with many more weapons options such as 1 x Genie, 2 or 4 Sidewinders, 3 x 1000 bombs, 2 x Bullpups etc...

Details in Chris Gibson's Battle Flight, pp161-163

If you want to get more adventurous, there are the naval Lightning projects with side intakes and swing wings...

Navy VG bird? - that's virtually a completely new kit, because the wing is larger than a standard Lightning.

An early Hunter with the straight leading edges and small bore jetpipe to go with the Revell kit would have a lot of people beating a path to your door with the non-availablity of the Aeroclub bits.

Joe, I think Red Neck is the SLAR pods.  Alastair at A2Zee does some Valiant RATO packs.  I think they're applicable to the Victor, pretty sure it was the Super Sprite that was trialed also.
