Guys,Just Wondering, did the Royal Navy or the RAF Consider Getting the Seamaster if it had Gone into Production? the reason i ask is, that the UK has Always Struck me as Top Notch User of Flying Boats it was a Question that I'd Kept Contained until Now, Just Wondering about that. What Say You? Dan

Well, the RCN and Canadian Coast Guard had a few, pictures are here;D

That Marlborough looks awesome!

It's a true testament to the beauty of the Seamaster; no matter what paint it's in, it looks so graceful and stunning.

I think it would look awesome in the same cammo that I used on my JASDF Typhoon, which is also what they use on their Phantoms. It's pretty aggressive, but if you want to stop landing craft, it might be your only choice! :)

You can still pick up the Revell 1/78 kit on eBay at the reasonable price .Just seen two examples .

PR19_Kit

The Revell Seamaster is a LOT smaller than 1/78, it's from their 1960s 'Fit the box' range and is nearer 1/144 IIRC.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

PAK-20 book says it's 1/136 so even smaller. pre-1980 box # H-176 or H-244, after 1980, box# 8621

The kits on eBay say 1/136, the one that has 1/78 scale is probably wrong.  But I wouldn't be paying $104 for an after 1980's one.

I'm still surprised that someone like Trumpeter or Hobby Boss hasn't decided to do a new SeaMaster. I mean, that's a kit that a lot of people would like, and there's definitely no competition for it in the mainstream.

Other  than the Anigrand kit, it doesn't seem like there's a single 'normal'-scale kit out there.

I'd love a nice 1/144 of it to go with all my other small scale stuff. Just think, you could even make a mini-ekranoplan of one!

Mach 2 do an injection Seamaster (the word 'injection' here is used in its WIDEST possible sense...) that's not too bad. I have one that I've been 'working on' for some years but apparently the quality control isn't that good as some other modellers have got really awful examples.

I've noticed that with the Br1150 Atlantic, the fuselage is the best bit. Their Vickers Valiant is miles better, apart from the fuselage not being a snug fit, heavy undercarriage and the lack of detailing in the cockpit as you can see quiet a lot through the glazing. ( even if you turn the fuselage over!).

Faust

That's one "good" thing about the old Seamaster; at least it was uniformly cruddy! There wasn't any real quality control issue; there just wasn't any quality to begin with!

Given the current trend towards oddball kits, I still think this plane deserves a real, high-detail injection model to be made.

Maybe the advent of 3D printing will allow smaller companies to tackle this bird again? Heck, even if you remaster the old kit and refine it, then scan and reprint, you'd be miles ahead of what I started with!

What about FreightDog doing one?

It's a BIG model in 1/72 scale, almost 2 ft long and 18 ins span.

In any case Colin does resin add-on parts, not complete kits, and Anigrand already do a resin one.

Give it time, man... Give it time!

The way things are going, I'm, beginning to think almost anything is possible in the big scales!
