Just got an Airfix Harrier GR.3 with my Flying Hours.

Looks great in the box, and I picked up a couple of corrected fins from Freightdog at Telford. Makes you wonder what you could do with the "wrong" fin: concoct a variant with a short nose but an RWR, so it doesn't need the tip extension?

Stick it on a GR.1 would be my first thought. Bit boring though. ;D Put it on a Hunter? It would look a bit brutal compared to the original, but could work. Hawker-ise a Jaguar? Curvy wingtips and tailplanes too, smooth out some of the angles...
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

The fin is the correct size for a GR.1, so a very subtle Wooksta style whiff if a GR.1 with the sensor on the fin would have people scratching their heads ---

From ebay today

1 x 1/72 Xtrakit Sea Vixen, probably to be an FGR4 similar to what is in Spinners thread.

1 x 1/72 Airfix EE Lightening F2A To be real world as will the other that is on delivery at the moment and as will the third I will buy at some point once the F6 version is released. Great looking kit and so many possibilities.

That's the kind of thing I'm thinking of. I have a background story where the 1960s inter-service handbag fights pan out differently and the Harriers end up being used by the US Army, British Army Air Corps, USMC and Royal Marines instead of the air forces. The GR.1ish version would be the marine corps' simplified version with no INS or camera, laser in a short nose and RWR on the fin. The two armies, by contrast, would get into alternative air force building, with specialised strike/CAS/recce versions....

Mr.Creak

Just got the new Airfix Lightning from my LHS.
I'm in love...
What if... I had a brain?

The Wooksta!

From ebay:
AZ Spitfire HF.VI

The only reason I bought it was to push the price up!  Got it for little under 7 notes.

Now for some Voyager decals... ;D

Gondor

Another increase today.

1 x 1/72 Airfix EE Lightening F2A. This one will be the other option in the decals, or similar from the other of this kit that I already have. One will have two cannons, the other four, and once the F6 is available I will buy another and swap the tank front ends to make a six cannon armed Lightening, not 100% sure if this was done in real life or not though

Anyway, that's me on holiday for a couple of weeks so I may get some building done for a change.

The Wooksta!

You know, much as I love the Lightning, I just cannot get excited about this new one.  Maybe it's because I view the big belly versions as the fat kid who's unloved.  Now the svelte and delicious F3 would have been snapped up.  I have got quite excited by that one...

You should try one Lee they are quite a refreshing build with a familiar aircraft in today model standards.

The interesting question however is are you going to try a Brengun Messerspit ? - http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/BRP72010

It should have been theoretically possible to fit the F6 tank gun pack to an F2A as the structures were almost the same, but there might not have been enough room in that cramped airframe to take the extra wiring! Maybe a double cable duct along the fuselage side could solve that?
