Mossie

Airfix 1/72 De Havilland Vampire T.11 from Modelzone.  Made sure a work errand took me to the Tesco just across from MZ in the shopping centre!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Initial thoughts on the kit Mossie ?

I quite like the starter set option I must admit with RNZAF markings and I have some after market Kiwi markings, both Fern Leaf and Kiwi. So I may get 1
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Looks pretty good Chris.  It's on a par with other kits recentley released such as the Gnat, good external detail, some cockpit detail, slightly heavy panel lines.  Has the later blown canopy, drop tanks.  Full intake trunking with compressor face is a nice touch.  Should build up nicely, hope they follow it up with a single seater and Venoms!

The Wooksta!

The wheels look a bit too modern (although easily replaced with the wheels in the 72nd PR19) and the way the booms attach to the wing means backdating it isn't easy.  I've been considering some late/extended war nightfighters with Mosquito canopies and bucket seats, vampire F3 wingtips and booms.

Not buying as it's the wrong scale but couldn't Airfix have been a bit more imaginative with teh markings in the PR19?  The same markings as the 72nd.

A bumper package of bits from the Wooksta in the post today, thanks so much.

They're the Paragon 100 Group update set, which gives me the much wanted Rose tail turret, and LOADS of PE aerials and things to scatter all over various WWII bomber airframes (and elswhere as well....) Also a Lightning F3 fin and tank so I can re-light my project to produce Spinners' Swedish AF Acro Blixt Lightning in 3D, plus what appears to be a virtually complete kit of a resin Hawker P.1081!

Had a good win on Ebay for £5.99, a 1/72 Revell BAC Lightning F.6.

Kit is a shiny silver plastic, raised panel lines and just a hint of flash on the sprues. It rattles around in the Revell box, but is just the right size for the Hasegawa boxes on my desk so guess where the moulds came from!
Markings are for RAF 5 Sqdn or 11 Sqdn in the mid-80s. Naturally as a Whiffer I don't plan to use these.....  ;D

"Famous" one and "odd" one. Easy. Plus with the artwork already to hand, it's quicker (cheaper?) to produce than going for something new.

Nearly picked up a couple of Vampires today, but resisted.

cant wait to get the Vampire here, i think it would look good in Belgian markings and NATO grey/green camoflage

Thorvic

Off eBay a Hasegawa 'Rescue Unit' Canadian Lancaster.

Will act as a basis for a Lincoln conversion as it has the .50 rear turret and the Lincoln fins, together with the usual late style Lancanster parts that are handy for detailing a Lincoln. Now i just need to source a suitable upper turret as have the vac canopy, the 20mm guns but still need a base to mount them on.

OK, so where did you get the 20 mm cannon and the turret vacform please?

From evilbay, one Bandai Scherazade mecha, from the Vision of Escaflowne series. Apparently approx. 1:48 scale. Fairly basic kit, but I will be detailing and adjusting it appropriately.
