From the Gloucester IPMS Show y'day, an Airfix Skyray (for som e reason I missed out on it the first time around) and an Acedemy Tempest, to replace the ofl Frog one that I'm using on my Sabrecat project.

I'm seriously impressed with the Tempest, lovely bit of moulding, and decals for 'Le Vieux Charles', Pierre Closterman's aircraft.
Watch the main u/c on the Tempest, Its quite fragile.

Heritage Aviation does white metal ones ---
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

The Wooksta!

And they're almost scale thickness. The Heller u/c is even more fragile than the Academy!

Personally, I'd like John Adams to take the Matchbox Tempest u/c, tart it up and bit and cast it in white metal.  Actually, he did, but modeified it slightly and released it as a Sea Fury set.

Happy to have hunted down a Matchbox Skyknight in Australia(!), and only for less then EUR 11,-...  ;D

Planning to convert it into a whiffy swept wing version, with early Sparrows.

Oh the F3D-3, got drawing of the swept wing version that was cancelled in one of my books

Bit of a shock that you had to go as far as Oz to find a kit for a decent price  :o

Got it through EvilBay - have been looking for one for some time, they pop up frequently but go for ridiculous prices, mostly in the US, with additional high postage. I have seen Skyknights going for more than US$30... irrational!
I was lucky with the one from Australia, probably due to the different time zone, because it had just gone online for immediate purchase... 12 hours later, it would probably have gone, and the postage was/is decent, too - altogether less than the kit alone from an US seller!

Anyway, I already have stashed away the F3D-3 drawings here from the site. Very helpful, in addition to the literature I have for this paper aircraft. Might take some time to materialize, but I am expecting a lot from this conversion. Pretty (fat) bird!  ;)

Revell (Matchbox) 1:700 HMS Tiger. To have the ghastly boxy hangar removed, and something prettier put on instead. That may be a turret, a rocket launcher (Blue Streak/Black Knight derivative perhaps) or maybe just a less ugly hangar...
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Revell 1/35th Colonial Viper II.
Searched for different schemes.....nothing too inspiring.
It obviously needs a proper diorama and scheme......something to mull over. :drink:

Hmm...
Presidential escort colour scheme?  Caprican flag colours?  (Whatever they are!)

Camouflaged deep space recon / strike version, with LR fuel tanks / sensor pod and / or antiship nuke?

Mod it so it appears to be built from several different Vipers, as damaged ships are cannibalised to keep salvageable ones running?

Mossie

JBOT do some decals for the Viper II with different colour stripes available (they don't do pink, but purple is an option). They also do a sheet with Cylon kill markings
http://www.jbot.ca/space.shtml

You could combine the kit and JBOT stripes to make a new multi coloured squadron, or if you buy a few sets, a display team?  Being Vipers, maybe the "Diamondbacks", with suitable snake like markings???
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

There's currently a Viper Group Build at the German SF forum www.phoxim.de, where I also take part - we are doing custom paintjobs, whiffy/flashy versions of the OOB Mk. II and Mk. VII kit.

The board (for inspiration, perhaps)

My own WiP on a Mk. II so far:

Nice kit, gets together much better than expected at first glance. Did some added details to the cockpit, and plan to add ordnance under the fuselage and wings - an authentic option. But the paint job will be off-series - it's going to be pretty much RED.

As an addendum - you might find this here helpful. Not only sketches, blueprints, but also shots from props, hangar decoration, etc., even with measures:

WHAT?  :o

Is that the Minicraft Connie or the Revellogram one? And how large was 'their stock'?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
