Had a Kiddyland 1/72nd AIDC Ching Kuo two-seater arrive from ebay yesterday. Been after one for ages.

Paul Harrison

Off Overkiller by any chance ?

Pretty sure it was from him Geoff, seller was overkiller 2007. Been after one for ages, don't know if it was ever imported officially. He seems to be dropping a lot of his stash, got an Il86 from him a few days earlier and missed out a lot of Mirages coz I fell asleep and missed the end of the auctions. Disappeared from here a while ago while I was offline for a couple of weeks, came back on line and quite a few had gone. Was following some of his builds but they all disappeared too.

Yeap thats Duncan trading in much of his stash for his new fittness drive as he's aiming to do the Ironman contect here in Bolton next summer !!!

I bet his Chinese food consumption has dropped off somewhat then.  ;D

Does the GR1 have a short fin like the GR3 does?

The GR1 fin is correct, the GR3 fin is the same fin with the RWR added where as on the real aircraft they used a faller fin tip

Thanks Geoff ! I ought to write that down somewhere so I don't forget...and end up asking you again. And again...... :drink:

Apparently, you get both the GR.1 fin and what's supposed to be the GR.3 fin in the GR.3 kit Todd ---

Colin of Freightdog does the corrected fin part in resin, which is used as a direct replacement

I just checked my GR3 kit and that's true, but there's no mention of the RWR-less fin in the instructions. Oddly the GR3 fin is on a small sprue along with some other odd bits, like the Sidewinder launcher rail etc.

And both fins are exactly the same height. As the difference is only about 1.5 mm it's not above normal 1970s-80s modelling techniques to correct it.

Not really Kit remember its a Harrier GR1 kit with the additional parts sprue to create the GR3 version   ;D

So why is the IFR probe on the same sprue as the GR3 fin?

If it's not in the GR1 kit that means you can't make Lecky-Thompson's Trans-Atlantic Race winner fom it. And I not the lack of ferry tips as well, at least I can't find any in that well stuffed box.

I'll have to check my GR.1 when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it didn't have a probe in it.

Are they planning on doing the two-seaters ?

I've got a pair of the sword kits, and might buy a third this week, but that would be all for nowt ( and alot more $$$ ) if Airfix were to do a two seater !

The probe is on the same small sprue as the GR3 nose and the Sidewinder launchers so there'd be nowhere for it to go in the GR1 kit.

How I WISH Airfix would do a 2 seater to their current standard of moulding. I have two Heller Bobcats, which are accurate but basic, the Heritage resin kit, which is good but complex to build, and a Sword kit en route from Big H. I have the Italeri T10 as well, which is pretty darn good too.

Got most of those myself Kit, aside of my Spitfire collection (50+ and no where near Lee's), my Harrier collection is the second most of.  The Airfix/heller T.10 is really quite good too, they were a little scarce on the ground for a while and I was after a couple a few years ago, so I had feelers out everywhere looking for one or two.  Next thing I know I've got five of them ----  :banghead:  all being put to good use BTW ---  ;D  I will though get a couple of those new-tool Airfix Harriers ---
