I've started to build the Pit-Road kit. This has more parts than any 1/144 kit I've built yet. It all fits well (with some rather oversized locating pins). As you can see, the insides are nicely detailed, if a bit cruder than Revell's recent offerings.

Next step is the engine intakes, which need a bit of fiddling to get the gap between the intake and fuselage correct.

I've no idea yet how I'll finish the aircraft...

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That does look nice Harro

... and about as complex as the Airfix 1/72 scale version! Why do TSR2 models have to be so complicated?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The parts breakdown is different, so it avoids the problems of the Airfix version, e.g. the intakes are much easier to build. There's a lot of parts, but they all fit together easily.

Did this ever get to completion?

I haven't done anything on this since those initial photos. I'm on a rocket building spree at the moment, and since it's all scratchbuilding, it's very slow going.

Just discovered that Great Wall have released a TSR-2 in 1/144. Might try that one instead.

I have the Great Wall kit and as far as I can tell it is the pit Road/Skywave kit reboxed.
Pit Road issued two versions of the kit, Prototype and A What If Strike version. The only difference being that the strike version had an extra sprue giving four underwing pylons, four missiles which look a bit like Sea Eagles, AND the underbelly long range tank.

The Great Wall kit gives the extra sprue.  :drink:

I know what I am planning for mine, I just need to find some time for it.

There are so many tasty 144th scale weapons in the newer Dragon kits, ( F-18E Tornado etc. ) that you could do anything with modern weapons.
