Dredging deep from the depths of my memory, I seem to remember various aircraft marked with long dragons on their fuselage sides.  I'd like to do a particular aircraft in this style.  Does anybody have any examples of such markings and whether or not decals are available (or I'll print my one)?  I'd prefer something colourful and bright.

"A Dragon and his Tail", is a WWII Liberator. I think this I one of the ones you want and is first in my mind. Look at Micro Scale Decals listing. You should find it in both 1/72 and 1/48 scales. I get mine from Squadron Mail order, here in the U.S.A.

Didn't the old Airfix Skyraider have a (green) dragon running full length?

I've a memory of a B-25 in the recesses of my brain. I'll try and dredge it out

The Airfix F80C certainly had a dragon of some description.

They did their 1/24 scale Ju-87 with one too IIRC, or was that a snake???

There were a couple of Hawk T.1s that had big dragons down the sides as well.

EDIT: This is actually the same Hawk - XX172 -but with two different schemes.

Oh yes, I've got that decal sheet somewhere too, VERY smart!

As I was typing a couple of other replies popped up, I was thinking on the same lines!

Model Alliance do a sheet for the Hawk, with a Dragon down the fuselage.  It was done in both black and red.  I can only find 1/48 decals which might useful for a larger 1/72 subject, but the sheet was done in 1/72 as well:

Also found the B-24 'The Dragon and his Tail'

As well as a B-25 marking that has a Dragon's head only that might be the one Chris mentioned?

Some more in 1/48 that might work in 1/72:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yup, but not very big - just winding around some dark blue nose trim on one of the two decal options. And the Ju 87 (North Africa/Libya theatre) has a snake running along the side - it's huge, though.

Therre is a Ju 87 Trop with a snake on the side. It's in various aftermarket sheets in 1/72 + I think it's in one of the Revell boxings and possibly in an Italeri boxing.

There's one on the ship's crest, at least, which is on the funnel. And I suspect she'll fly the Ddraig Goch at every opportunity.

Um, that one is a Ddraig Aur.
