(it's just that I love bright colors  ;) )
As far as I am concerned, I don't like bright colors, sorry (reminding my nasty brother, who is color-blind and always wears bright colors)...

ok,  we share the fact that we like to paint models monochrome   <_<

by the way I still haven't found the P-38 egg 3D view in my archives, maybe I don't have them anymore ...
but I found pictures of the box, which I put in the same album on photobucket as this one, of a floatplane version (happen to be yellow  ;) )

the link to the album is  http://s1274.beta.photobucket.com/user/ericr63/library/hyd

Tophe

Thanks for the nice words, all of you.

Ericr, special thanks for the P-38-egg-box view that may be enough for me to draw, I will see. <_<
I may draw your own float-egg (beautiful  ), celebrating your build, the nose seems different from the profile too.
By the way, why is your account on Photobucket called ericr63: are you born in 1963 like me? ;D (no need to answer)

please do draw it ; the nose is the original one : apart from the floats (and color) it's all Out Of the Box

yes indeed : some people say I am a bit colorblind, but apart from that, we do have some tastes in common
I still remember my surprise when I first saw your drawings; I think I was looking for info about the flying boat version of the Gotha 242... (of which I made an approximate model with what I knew) (... in yellow ... :-? )

Tophe

Thanks ericr!

Well, I have added "a reason to be asymmetric" on my explanation site

the port boom starts drom the middle wing and the starboard boom starts from the high wing...
Better seen here:

Hehehe, magic!

Only you Tophe, only you.....  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Thanks Kit for your indulgence... Well, I am not sure this is called modelling   , just "having fun with model parts" :-\ ;)

PS. Ericr: your egg-float-Lightning is featured at the end of my site http://www.kristofmeunier.fr/#Sit Thanks again!

beautiful! thanks for including my humble contributions in your catalogue.
I have a third attempt at floatplanizing a P-38, with a 1/48 Droop (the two others were blue and yellow, so this one is red, obviously)

I admit colours do help classified explanations... And your bright models for fun (as well as Reno racers) are not "shocking", simply this is not my favorite way.

This great new one  is featured also on the same site tonight... Thanks for having enriched the collection. Do you have an idea what would be the missing EF-38C? An egg-Droop?

I am proud to contribute to your gallery! maybe i could try to build some of the variants one day.

An egg-Droop would be beautiful, but it is a bit beyond my basic modelling skills : making the nose-bubble wouldn't be easy ...
(or maybe it can be done in painting, the way you do?)

As a drawing, it is even more easy: I have added it at the end of my site. Thanks!

Far from my crazy what-if delirium, a serious Airtruk could of course be built with this nice kit. See http://renax-sharkit.blogspot.fr/2012/10/airtruk-au-72-le-montage-fini-par-phil.html . Or a Mad Max half-serious sci-fi version, see http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationsmovie/madmax/pl_12_airtruk.html .
