Been looking online for deals to stay in Telford cheap this year and there's nothing out there. Park Inn want £92 per night  and that's a special offer!

Might have to stay out of town this year as it looks like the hotels have cottoned on to the dates of regular events at the International Centre.

For my first trip to Telford, I stayed in a small holiday cottage.  It's some time ago, but the price was good as it's out of season for them.  Theres several within a short drive, fine for those who are driving.

On the plus side, although Telford has been described as 'East Germany without the tanks', the countryside around it is lovely and Ironbridge is gorgeous at that time of year with the Autumn leaves.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Last October, Madame R and I had a week in a holiday cottage near Much Wenlock.  It cost us £125  for the full week! OK, you have to do your own cooking and drive a bit, bit it might be worth considering.  Visit Shropshire (or some similar titled website)  is where I found the data.

I think I'll be in the same B&B in Shrewsbury as last year.  Bit pricey but it's good and with one of the best curry houses in the country (and I don't say that lightly) about ten minutes walk away.

The Ramna Balti house.

Staying further away has one drawback: the traffic jam into the TIC on Saturday morning.

Mossie

But you can turn up earlier.  Don't know about the Saturday, but this year I arrived on the Sunday an hour before it officially opened, missed the traffic and as a bonus the doors were already open.  I've got stuck in awful traffic in previous years, once not getting through the doors until about 12pm when aiming to be there two hours before.

On Sunday it's not such a problem. On Saturday at 9.30 half of Telford is gridlocked.

found last year that stating away from telford itself in a hotel just of the m6 juction cost only £90 for the whole weekend and onlt took 15 min to run in and because i aimed to arrive by 8.30 the que wasnt that bad

Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Something I need to be looking into as well. I wonder what the Holiday Inn will be charging this year?!?!?!?!

I'm planning a visit to Telford sometime in the next few years, my wife's family is up in St. Helens and she wants to go see them again, and it's not too far from there. I told her if we do go it will be at Telford time -----   ;D

The Holiday Inn and the International Hotel next door to the centre are both sold-out online, I hope IPMS have reserved a lot of these rooms at a half-decent rate.
Shrewsbury B&B is looking good as is Ironbridge, lots of options there. Might even ask the Youth Hostel I used some years back.

I know this sounds daft but I'd rather book up now and be certain than have a panic in September when all hotels are fully booked.

Sold out? In JANUARY????

Ye gods, whetever next...... :banghead:

I looked at back end of December and thought they just hadn't opened the bookings up yet  :banghead:

If it's true (not saying it isn't) will need to look elsewhere
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I managed to bag a room at the park inn again, for £20 less than last year as well
