Hotels for Telford 2013

I drive into Calgary every other week which is about 240 mile round trip, and google maps has St.Helens to Telford at about 70 miles and the town we go to shop in now is about that.  When we lived in Calgary some Sundays we would drive to Banff just for breakfast --- about 80 miles to there ---

I managed to bag a room at the park inn again, for £20 less than last year as well

But how much was that?

I, having learned from last years last minute panic, booked with thenice lady who was mentioned in the IPMS Mag..
So I am in the Holiday Inn, nice and close, which is a good thing given the way my knees have deteriorated in the last six month (OsteoArthritis).
However I WILL manage to hobble to the Chinese, assuming that is where we are gathering/congregating/meeting on the Saturday night.
What is the collective term for a group of Whiffers? Do not answer here, new thread coming up.

Do we know what they are charging for the Holiday Inn this year?
Though to be honest I'm seriously looking at a B&B in Ironbridge and getting a cab into town both days.

It may be sacrilage but I'm thinking of going to the main IPMS dinner this year, as it's the 50th Anniversary. I've not been to one of them since we started having the Nats at Telford!

I would agree with kit ref the IPMS dinner this year, as its the 50th. "Suffering" it once wont kill us. The Chinese could be on the Friday evening instead.

A number of us already attend the Scots nationals dinner. So the precedent is already there

I've arranged to stay at the Grays Hotel, just across the road from the Park Inn. With the IPMS rates it's £62.50 per night including Full English breakfast. I did toy with staying at a B&B further out but cab fares for the evenings would have destroyed any savings.

The IPMS formal dinner sounds good to me, makes a little change to the normal nights out. Might even wear a fancy dinner jacket for a laugh!

Not from what I've seen in the foyer of the hotel in previous years. SOME may do, but it's not in the rules.
