A hypothetical version of a very interesting prototype; the Curtiss XP-55 Ascender.

Brilliant.
Has a Flash Gordon flavour.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Impressive indeed!

Did that start off as an Ascender kit and if so which one please?

I love the idea of the semi-annular air intake, that'd work on quite a few jet conversions of piston engined aircraft.

I'll take 4 please, don't wrap it up, is to enjoy right now!!

Very neat and logical conversion.   Have Combat Simulator 3 and my favorite bird to fly is the P-55 (granted, 'fixed' to eliminate the prototype's problem areas, but a good flyer).

The Wooksta!

The annular intakes, whilst aestheically pleasing, would be changed to lower and larger intakes.  The rear of the canopy would interfere with it and if it didn't close properl you'd have airflow problems leading to engine inefficieny.  The He 162 suffered from that.

Please more from this!

Nice idea !!
How did you manage to build the rear fuselage ? It looks like metal parts.

Cheers !

I know this is USAAF '46 but it looks very 30's Buck Rodgers to me - you could follow that theme of course.

Hi all again. Thanks. The kit near the finish.

The posterior part of the fuselage comes from a cylindrical piece of similar position of a V-1 kit on 1/48, with some pieces of plasticard around. The cabin is of a P-47.

The kit is the model of MPM on 1/72.
