Was the Model 60 a competitor for the Chance Vought F7-U Cutlass? It seems to have some similarities and is far less bizarre looking!
It would be great to have both on a shelf...

Weekend is almost over and there's some progress on the delta fighter.
@ loupgarou. I'm an absolut newbie too as far as resin kits goes... So far just started sanding and cutting some parts of different resin kits, but didnt finish a single one (yet).
This one's actually the most advanced project.
So I'd be grateful for every hint / advice I can get

@ capt canada:

Thats the thing. I use the "D" size wheel for leading edge rivets and "B" for the structure rivets on the tail (vertical stab)

Got this weekend this book. Excellent source of information about the topic and the Model 60. Especially the detailed drawings. But this also means even more effort.....
Airbrakes, Tail Bumper, Hook, structure details etc etc

So, according to the book, I try to implement as much as I can from the real thing. But I also take my artistic whiffy freedom  (for exemple adding here and there maintenance access panels)

The fuselage starts looking a bit better....

@ Capt Canada:
Dont know if I got you right as for the side profile. Its rather a topview (with one wing and vertical stab laying next to it)

Indeed, the emhar demon would be a perfect starting point, because it shares very similar (or even the same) fuselage, air inlets and carriage. The demon used to be McDonnell Model 58. The 60 was an alternative to it.
The fighter competition was won by the F-4 Skyray, and the F-3 Demon served as a backup....
F-7 Cutlass was developed at a similar period, but I dont know more about it yet. Still some pages to read....

And now a bit of interaction....  ;)

Starting a poll

Should be the wingtips folded

Or not

My point of view. It should not, because it spoils a bit the whole delta desgin.....  :-\

Thats all for now.

Cheers

Hi,

My opinion is : "or not"  ;D

 / Frederic (non-folded delta fan)

Last finished!

Captain Canada

Not folded. I think the plane is so rare, people would rather see it in it's flying form. Easier to imagine the wings folded than hoe the a/c actually looks in flying trim.

As for the tails, i was just thinking from the side view that it looks as if the tails are canted, and attached to the fuselage not out on the wings.

PS-I have a tool with one of those wheels on it from my Grandfather's estate, never really knew what it was !

A week over again...and not much to tell.
Did a bit of work on the fuselage and glued the nose cone to the cockpit section.
Lots of sanding and putty everywhere in order to get it smooth and to the right shape.

Finally figured out, how I'm gonna reproduce the airbrakes. I'll cut them out from the plain fuselage section and sand them down to a thinner size. The holes in the fuselage, left by the cuts, will be closed by using the engine outer diameter. Sounds maybe a bit complicated, but I'll take some pics of the whole process and of the side view of the drawing to make it more comprehensive.... :)

And the poll ended with a draw...hehe
So I should actually represent the outer wings being in transition ;)

Cheers

I dont have the detail of the kit in mind anymore,
but the engine compartiment, rear part of the fuselage, is not tubular,
the exhaust is upper the fuselage axle (check the drawing up)
so the first asembly of the fuslage was good...or not so far;

It looks strange on the foto but it was ok I guess. I could look closer to my things, assembly sheet, etc.

the riveting work is impressive...I did not knew about thses tools...

The wing tip, if not glued, may be multi-positionned folded or not, I did the part for that.
Is it possible in practice....??

Great work going on here. A lot of detail being added to this one.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

About the plane,
a delta wing required a long distance to land on.

difficult on an aircraft carrier....
