great idea apart from the intakes.
the reason they stacked the engines on top of each other was to keep the frontal idea to a minimum.
sticking the intakes on the side ruins this completely.
i think the best thing to do is put the intake under the nose like an f8/a7 thats what i did with mine

a lightning with 44,000 lb thrust? HELL YEAH  (my whif had a single olympus motor with similer power lol)

Interesting point,
I reasoned that the reconfigured nose can fit a bigger radar and by pushing the intakes as far aft as possible, a lot of internal volume is made available. Also two 'Wye's would require large intakes making a ventral chin inlet a little tricky.

Your souped-up Lightning sounds great- can I see a pic please?

i left the intake up front and went for 1 engine to free up loads of internal space so we do think alike lol

Captain Canada

Wired....the nose looks pretty neat but with those intakes it would be 16 feet wide ! I like the Griffon powered Hurricane too.

I like this idea. Both versions look great.

I did a similar chin intake on a modified P.8 Lightning when I first posted here.

Can we see a rear end picture of the single engine?

Think XF8U-3 nose with an enlarged Lightning wing and like either two J57's or J79's...
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

Why would you want to replace the Avons? They're more powerful than the J-57 or the J-79.........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I'm guessing these are very different than the early RR Avons developed in the late 1940's...
