Could a canopy from a handy P-40 kit work?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit, yes it would, sadly, I don't have any handy P-40 kits available

How about going Russian on this. ,if you can save the front windscreen ,go with that alone and fill in the back window areas. Something along the lines of the I-15/16 ... ???

nighthunter

*sighs* I don't wanna!

I may have some help. Keep tuned!

Captain Canada

I might have a spare canopy from either the Airfix or Academy kit. Maybe a Malcolm hood from a P-51 as well.

I gotta quit saying stuff...everytime I open my mouth I end up spending half a day digging thru my stash ! But I love it.....

Found both the Academy and the Airfix. I have two Airfix so I'd rather offer that one up, but it's a one piece as the Academy is two, ( well, 4 ) but you can have either, as I think my project was using the Airfix canopy.

Pics as requested. I figured I'd post them here instead of a pm, so that others whom have built these kits might be able to help choose the one that would better fit the Monogram kit.

So length measurements for the Monogram canopy are: 7/16" (1.1mm) at the ridge, and 3/8" (0.9mm) at the base, so if the Malcolm hood canopy is at least the length of the ridge of the Monogram canopy, it'll work otherwise the Airfix canopy is the solution. Thank you, Cap'n!

Still working on it, albeit slowly, and came up with this list of schemes:

NARSES2

The FAA inspired scheme would get my vote, but it's your model
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Temperate Land or Day Fighter schemes get my vote.  Or....keep it simple and apply the overall green scheme as worn by IAC Seafires?
