Basic story thus far, USAAF decides to keep the P-36 Hawk in service, but upgrades the engine, and removes a .30 cal on each wing and replaces it with a 20mm cannon, and 3 hard points, 1 for a centerline fuel tank and 1 on each wing for up to 500lb bombs. These factory modified P-36's are given the designation of P-36G. They arrive in the North African Theater painted in Olive Drab and Neutral gray, which is found to be very ineffective camouflage, both in the air and on the ground. They are painted ad hoc with the color Sand, and captured Hellblau paint, and given RAF Roundels for under the wings till nervous British AAA gunners get comfortable with seeing them and not mistaking them for the FW-190's.

Looking really good. Some P-38's and 39's were painted in similar schemes
