Mike Burrows, he who designed the famous Lotus 108 carbon fibre bike for Chris Boardman in the 1992 Olympics which itself was a cantilever design, is a big fan of cantilever bicycles. He's designed at least 4 production bikes like this and there's a good article written by him on the 'Bike Culture' pages here :-

I've ridden one of his prototype cantilever designs and it feels exactly like a 'normal' bike, but you get a very odd sight picture on the 'non-blade' side of the front wheel. It's almost as if there's nothing supporting you at all, very un-nerving for a while!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
