So I am building this stupid 'Dolly Wheel for the plow and naturally making and fitting these small parts can get frustrating. So I have to take a breather before I get totally flummoxed but I still want to build something.
A friend came through with this WW II Jeep he had ..."laying around forever, and I'd like to see built but will probably never get to". To paraphrase a song "I love old Flatties and I can not lie"! Then there is the fact that I've had an idea for a runabout that involved getting a Drop tube front axle street rod chassis from a Nebraska hot rod/race car shop, getting all the reproduction replacement panels for the old Willy's body and putting a modern drive line under it, say a newer turbocharged 4 cylinder with an automatic transmission.
Wheels and tires?

Being of an artistic (Or is that Autistic?) bent I couldn't help but play with the image on Windows Paint. And then the fact there were a Lot of 'extras in the box like a double hoop rollover bar, a surrey top and hinges for the tail gate? Yes it had the grill and everything to build a civilian version. So lots of thought went into 'My Runabout".

I can just hear the Jeep purist screaming now. Yes it Will be bright green with some 'Military' fittings, Army stencils on one side of the hood and Marines on the other. But I like the look with the white on it.

A mate of mine bought a short wheeled base ex-Army LandRover and put huge balloon tyres on it. He also welded a cut down ladder to each side to climb in. Great going off road but in the city he needed to weld lots of mirrors for all round visibility.

No more than I'd be driving around town it two side mirrors and a standard windshield frame mounted unit would do fine. Snap-on side curtains and doors would take care of nasty weather and in lovely warm weather an open car with a surrey top would be fine.
I have to wonder tho: Would I have to name my next dog Doug and get him to hold a corn cob pipe in his mouth & wear aviator sunglasses as I drove him about?  ;D The four star license plates for him might raise eyebrows tho.

This was just to get my mind off that cursable plow carrier wheel. While working on this I finally came up with an idea right from Bedrock and Fred Flintstone.  ;D

As for waiting to find a modern turbo four I have given up on that. BUT I do have a Ford V-8 60 out of a midget kit that will look spanking good under the under the bonnet once it is painted O.D. Green of course.

Well a lot of you seem to have moved on to other builds but I still need to finish the Bird. And then I have another idea but it has to wait until I finish two other builds for other groups.

This build seems to have hit a real dead spot for now. My build is stalled due to the changing weather of Spring bringing on 'Uncle Arthur Rittis' visits. I have done a little to get the plow carrier wheel together but it's the worse time to be playing with small parts and sharp knives.

Still checking here every now and again.

Hope to see it all finished in due course

Don't worry, some projects seem to work out in their own time.

It's a case of "when", not "if" for me.

I just have too little access to modelling kits & time.

With home & stash being so far away, all of my modelling has been severely curtailed. I am building up here but it is only OoB stuff or tiny mod's, most of which have to wait until I go home (6 weeks every 6 months) & set up my modelling area before I can complete them. Any serious mod stuff has, mostly, been put on the back-burner until I can find a job that pays as well near home.

I have quite a list of things I need to build before I get onto my next zombie build, too.

I know the feeling all too well. With me its been almost all family stuff, which comes first.

So after a rude interruption in my model building by a small thing named 'Life' I'm trying to figure out the caster I need to get the plow carrier wheel to pivot with the car/plow and not try to steer it.
