Question,if I remember correctly, the Spanish had 109's with the same engine as the Spitfire. I think they were licence built in Spain and they were not able to get the original engines and used the Rolls Royce instead. Anybody know about this ?

I think that this is what you need:-

The final Spanish variant was the HA-1112-M1L Buchón . It first flew 29 March 1954. The 1112-M1L was equipped with the 1,600 hp Rolls-Royce Merlin 500-45 engine and Rotol propeller, both purchased as surplus from the UK.   As I recall,  the earlier examples had a Hispano-Suiza engine.......but others here will know more than me about that.

Yep,that would be it alright. The reason I know about this is that it was popular at one time,to get the Monogram kits of the Spitfire and the 109 to kit bash one. They were cheap and easily available then. Thanks ...

The 109 with Merlin is famous, the DB-601 Spitfire also, but this is the first 109 with Spitfire wings I have ever seen... Congratulations, this was the missing link!

All the 'Me109s' used in the 'Battle of Britain' film were from Spain, in the near shots you can see they have the 'wrong' engines but in distance shots it's the wing shape that takes your eye. All the fighters in the film sound the same as a result, but unless you've heard one of the few DB engined Me109s around nowadays you have no point of reference.

To my mind the DB engine has a deeper growl than an early Merlin, but everyone hears differently of course.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Just watched "Battle of Britain" for the first time and spotted the "Buchon" right off. As well as the Spanish inline He-111's. Good movie, and well done models.

So..... This kit of Comrade Novis is inspired by well known british "fairy tale",that for the "Dicke Herrman" (Görong) ask, what they want to destroy RAF A. Galland (or W.Mölders ?) answered :"a squadron of Spitfeuers" ...... ;D
Thru the time I hope, that more Spitfeuers of german Fighter aces will be come here. I make schemes of theme for Novis,me and at minimum for three other comrades... ;D ;D

About amazing movie "Battle of Britain".....
Spanish Hispano Aviación Ha-1112  ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispano_Aviaci%C3%B3n_HA-1112 ) was not only in role of germany Messerschmits, but few of them "played" role of Hurricans from polish RAF squadron.

In role of He-111 were spanish built CASA-2.111 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CASA_2.111 ) . What i remember, one of these planes was displayed in 1979 on Frankfurt am Main Airport (along with Me-163 and Me-262A) . Somewhere I have a picture of them.... I was there a "7 year  young" and daddy make a pic of me and this "big planes"  ;D ;D ;D

And at least somewhere I see pics of czechoslovak builts Aero Ae-45 (or 145) in colours of wartime He-111 , what was used in this movie (?      ? )

Ah yes, I'd forgotten that ALL of the combat aircraft in the 'Battle of Britain' film used Merlins!

Brings to mind a few Whiffs on that theme now, a Merlin engined Me-110 (But I think someone did one of those on here a while ago.....) and a Merlin engined Do-17, maybe even a Merlin engined Ju-88 too?
