The Blue/Yellow P-26 is OOB from the new RofG boxing with the kit decals. The owner of Starfighter Decals informed me that no such markings were ever worn by a real P-26. The O.D./Yellow P-26 was bought with no decals. The swastika as shown is an American Indian symbol. It was part of a sheet from an IPMS Nationals. I think this was for one of the Boeing P-1 family. So I used it for the heck of it. Adios, Larry.

Shows what can be done with some of these older kits - nice work
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Aw look.  I've resisted (only just) to get one of these for whiffery fun and frolics but I guess I'll have to go and get one.

What to do? Easy - reduce the size of the head rest fairing a little, put a Bristol Mercury on the front, paint in either pre-war silver = squadron markings or Munich Crisis colours and call it a Bristol Bullet.  Natural successor to the Bristol Bulldog (check out the very similar fin and rudder) and the Gloster Gauntlet never gets built.  Pretty sure I've seen a silver doped RAF P-26 on the SIG stand, so I don't think it's a brand new idea.

Which means the Gladiator doesn't either - but maybe there's a longer life for the Hawker Fury in that scenario; Malta 1940/41 Fury IIs, anyone?  That said, Gloster 'did' produce their Guardian monoplane fighter (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,21074.msg309154.html#msg309154), which was a better performer than the Bristol Bullet.

In so-called 'real life' P-26s remained operational in the Philippines until the end of 1941.

Those between-the-world-wars US color schemes are among my favorites. Thank you!
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Hey Cap, what parts are you going to utilize, I can draw up a blueprint for ya, if you're interested!

Thanks for the offer, but not really sure as yet. Probably a center float with lots of rigging wires....

Great ideas!  And cool builds, OP.  I always like seeing the P-26 at Wright-Patterson, and I did one in Guatemalan colors.

I've got one of these - it's going to be a USN machine, though: an F7B-3, part of USS Moffett (ZRS-6)'s airgroup circa 1937. ;D

Nice builds, both.

Actually, Pyro, the F7B designation was used for the Boeing P-29, a more handsome looking aircraft, in my opinion, with it's closed canopy. Surprisingly the Boeing P-26 was never offered to the USN. But, every Boeing XF#B fighter since was rejected, so you could technically get away with it.

I know. ;D My story is that the USN wanted a light monoplane fighter for it's air-carriers, and Boeing did the expedient thing and adapted the Peashooter for trapeze ops. So F7B it is.
