by late 53 europe was at a stalemate germany had steamrolled everybody but still couldnt get accross to england thanks in large part to the royal navy.
the arms industry were recieving near unlimited funds and this meant many advanced designs were progressing quickly.

english electric had been working on a twin engined interceptor since the end of 1951 and had settled on the unusual design of vertical stack engines.
the performance was frankly stupendous! but lack of space for fuel was a real problem.
in the summer of 1953 when it was looking likely that sweden would be overrun the sbs launched a daring operation to evacuate as many swedish engineers as possible under cover of darkness.

the raid was extremely effective and for many months the germans had no idea what had happened and simply thought that the missing engineers were killed during the fighting.

the swedish engineers were eager to get to work against the germans and by pure luck most of the deigners working on the draken ended up at english electric.
they proposed a very similer wing to the draken this would adversly effect performance but would add LOTS of space for fuel

heres my progress so far

im also going to put a rocket motor at the base of the rudder because the lightning just doesnt climb fast enough lol

the mk1a had no radar instead having 4 or 6 20mm cannons (havnt decided yet) and a new innovation in a rocket thats guided by the targets heat emmisions performance of these early missiles was average at best.

the mk1a was capable of mach 2.8 (briefly mach 3.02 if the rocket motor is used)

Oh that is going to be fun to watch.
side note: Every time I hear "English Electric aircraft" I picture an aircraft flying away trailing a really long electrical cord for power. :D

They did of course, we had an EE fridge when I was a kid. Never got much above Mach 0.0000001 at an altitude of 550 foot. I live in the London Alps  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

And EE made locomotives as well, BIG ones!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Batts Cables down in Erith Kent used to be called 'English Electric' back in the 1930s. They had to change their name to 'English Electric Cables' and they supply  the copper wire for business and home usage across Europe.

So you could have an English Electric in the garage and still park the old flivver there. :D

No, sharpen up the front so it's more like an F3-F6. What did you use to extend the belly tank? That looks pretty darn good.
