during the early 40s the british saw the pace of german weapons development and were rightly worried about being hopelessly outclassed if the threatened war ever materialised.
the mk1 spitfire had a 1000hp merlin engine and 8 .303 mgs
the mk2 had a much more powerful 1400 hp merlin engine and 2 cannons with 4 .303s
the mk3 became all cannon armement and introduced the 1800 hp griffon engine

the 4th version of the spitfire required something radical to keep pace with the rumoured jets the germans were developing

it was decided that 1 engine just wasnt enough but supermarine wernt happy with the handling penalty that 2 engines introduced. they came up with a push/pull arrangement with 2x2350hp griffon 64 engines  ;D
top speed with 1 engine was 420 mph and with both at full chat an astonishing 550 mph at altitude.
unbeknownst to the british this was 10mph FASTER than the me262!

iv got 1 of 2 mk22 spits in front of me and this could go VERY wrong

This could be interesting...
Push-Pull. What are you going to do about the landing gear and balancing the beast?

The man is clearly certifiably mad. That is of course why he fits in so well here.
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

This has the makings of a disaster of epic proportions of a wonderfully powerful aircraft. Just what I like to follow as either way it will be entertaining! :D

Nice idea - and it could look VERY interesting!

BTW: another concept suggestion for a twin-engined aircraft - the twin boom solution.

thats really nice (begging for another 2 engines though!)

i want to keep everything along the centreline though so it doesnt ruin the roll rate or the aerodynamics.
fuel is going to be the main issue anybody got any 48 scale hindenburgers they dont want?

Are you sure that's not one of Tophe's?                                                     ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
