To get the galv look you might try slightly different shades (a little more white, a bit more grey, a touch more silver) &, using a not-too-dense shaggy brush, stipple the colours on. Then, using very, very, very fine sandpaper, sand the finish down smooth.

It might work. :-\

Definitely worth a try! Then just a touch of rust.

So I'm moving forward on the engine for the 'Bird of Flee'.  ;D Stripped the chrome off the valve covers with Windex and it took a soaking, a scraping and another soak to get it all off the places I wanted. So here are the parts and assemblies I have together.

A few small steps for the model... One large leap for modeling kind!

So the engine has started going together. It won't be one of my most detailed builds, but it will be nice.

I know nothing about modelling autos so this is like a tutorial to me
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I've learned a lot from others ( like you) here about other types of models too. We build what we build and hope others take some ejoyment from our builds.

This is where things stand right now. I'm getting hungry to finish this one.

Almost there.. almost there....

well I like what I see so far.

No guys, I didn't get kidnapped by aliens, fall down a hole to The Land of The Lost, Get turned into a Vampire and flutter away or just plain old wake up under the grass. I've been thinking out and working on details for the Zombie Bird.

I got screen behind the grill openings in the plow, got everything painted and attached to my satisfaction on the engine and plotted the window covers out more.
I hope everyone else is working on something during the coming Fall season.

For all you super detail modelers waiting to see the spark plug wires, fule lines, throttle linkage and battery cables:
DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH!
I've become more of a 'KISS' (Keep It Simple Stupid) modeler as the parts are getting smaller & harder to see and they like to shake and dance around.

So I added screen and some external bracing around the drivers windshield opening and grill. I also put then engine combo in and am working on an exhaust.

Man I wish I could good enough alone.

What exhaust? Just punch some holes in the hood (bonnet) and have straight pipes sticking up in the air!!  Hear the roar!

I want to (Somewhat) be able to sneak up on the stinky boogers then when they notice the car stick a shotgun out the 'cross hole' in the windshield to get the fresh ones dead, hit the high beams and then drop the hammer and plow through with the exhaust roaring.
