That looks like a really good start on rusty metal plate. I might have to get some of that paint to help things along.

Looks like a pretty good colour to base your rust & weathering on. Good find!

I've been working on the hillbilly armor when I get a chance. Work has been ridiculous. 55 hours one week and lucky to get 40 the next. Plus the "honey do" list gets bigger instead of smaller.

I've found the Corgi toy version of your kit, I'm not too sure on the scale but it fits in the palm of my hand. The hoses are missing on one side, so changing the body shouldn't be too much trouble. Great build.

kerick

What scale is that? I wonder how hard it would be to find some GI extras plus various barrels and such?

I've been working on the armor and reinforced the plow. I found some HUMMV doors in the bottom of a drawer so those will be included. A slow weekend for once so maybe some pics on further progress soon.

The Corgi Mack C. F. Fire Pumper is; five and five eights long or 14.2cm by one and thee quarters wide 4.5cm. Height including  siren two and a half or 5.5cm . Found another with yellow glazing .

kerick

That's pretty small. Of course that might make it the size project I might finish!
Fire truck pics tomorrow.

Finally got a little work in. Added hand rails and boarding steps to the side doors.
Action Fred showed up in time to provide a little scale. I'm planning on mounting a 30 cal on the left side to compliment the 50 cal in the ring mount. Forgive the tape holding things in place for now.

I'll paint the HUMMV doors sand which will contrast with the rusty steel panels.

Touch up primer is next. Soon I will have to bite the bullet and break out the weathering materials. I want to place some sort of tanks in the back for storage of diesel fuel, etc.

You are getting right along with this, aren't you. Going to be a gob smacking build.

I have to say it really helps that the project is not supposed to look perfect. More like a couple of farm boys with torches and welders. I hope the weathering is not too time consuming.

this is coming along quite fine.

I like the idea of "field expedient armouring up"
Trying to get the same look on my Bushmaster build.. the "found it, improved it for current conditions" type of thing

I'm trying the hairspray method. After I spayed on the cheap hairspray I followed with some flat white. After letting it dry for a few days I tried scraping then sanding through to the primer. What worked best of all is plastruc liquid glue. Apply a few drops, wait a few seconds then dab with the brush applicator to produce a chip effect. Of course this left a bunch of white paint in the glue bottle so I'll have to use this bottle only for weathering now. That's OK as long as it works. The sanding produced a nice faded, weathered paint look.
Check the pics and tell me what you think.

I'll do the other armor panels and then try the Rust and Dust product.
I also threw on some sludge wash from the bottom of the brush cleaning jar. Between the glue and the paint thinner some of the flat white bubbled up a little which actually adds the effect IMHO.

That came out ok.
Loving the way the Zombie plough is crafted though.

As an aside..with the Hairspray method.. I find it is easier if you start the wearing back process very soon after painting when it is touch dry.. before the Acrylic paint hardens too much. It comes away quite easily then with a little water and a stiff brush or toothbrush.
