That could be the problem, and the fact that I used enamel instead of acrylic! Live and learn.
Anyone know what fire truck bodies are made of? Are they steel or aluminum? Not sure if I should make it all rusty or just dirty.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I kmow the old LeFrance fire trucks were steel bodied but had lots of aluminum trim.

I'll have to ask around at the fire dept in town.

I did get a little done lately. I put grey primer or white on the other panels and sanded or scrapped to show primer underneath. Looks like a bunch of scrap from the junk yard, which in this case is good.

I'll do the Dust and Rust over this, hopefully soon.

What I see here is good already.. keep it coming ;D

Some of the corners are showing white plastic from too much scrapping or sanding. I hope the Rust and Dust covers it.

Try to remember some places will be worn down to the metal from handling and scraping against things.

That will be one of the last touches. I learned a trick from armor modelers of rubbing pencil lead over spots that I want to look like worn metal. Looks great in places that would have a lot of foot traffic.

I couldn't stand it anymore so I glued on the armor and the plow. I'll probably wish I hadn't at some point in the weathering process but I just had to glue something.

What a zombie does not want to see!

Top view showing the ring mount, extra fuel tanks and room for a 30 cal on the drivers side.

Action Fred showed up for a photo shoot. He's so full of himself.

Get out the way, Fred!!!

I have to fit the extra fuel tanks, sling some mud and dust around and pile on the ammo cans and food boxes.

I know this might sound picky but...

I ain't volunteering to be a gunner on your truck until you fit some doors to stop the Z's dragging me out of the gun position by my feet! :o

Other than that she's looking very good! ............ Can I be the driver? ;)

There will be HUMVEE doors on each side, painted desert sand.

Shoot 'em or hose 'em down with the water cannon!
I'll put a 30 cal on the drivers side but i'm not sure wether to put a 30 or 50 cal on the ring mount. Of course there will be rifles and shotguns for all.

Well I finally broke out the Micro Mark Rust and Dust. Step 1 is a brown wash that gives a rusty look. I found that if I wait until the first coat is almost dry and apply a light second coat I can get some streaking as if the rain had washed rust down the side of the vehicle. Step 2 is a black wash. When this is totally dry I'll give it a try. Step 3 will be a flat finish coat.
Here's a couple pics.
